The Duke Energy/Waste Management morning truck route for coal ash removal from Lee Steam Plant is being revised in order to reduce the amount of traffic on Big Creek Road. According to Duke Energy, the morning route for Waste Management trucks is being changed from the staging on Hwy. 20 to Hwy. 29 to Hwy. 8. The route is highlighted in red in the attachment.
The trucks will come through West Pelzer, to Pelzer then take Hwy. 20 to Williamston along Greenville Drive to South Hamilton to Lee Steam.
The original route (shown in green in the attachment) will continue to be identified as an alternate route in the event there is an issue along the new route, Duke officals said. The revised route will be used primarily in the morning around 5 a.m. to 6 a.m., and there may be unloaded trucks using this route during the day going in either direction.
Mailers will be sent to the residents who may be affected on Tuesday and information will be posted on the Duke Energy website.
