The following projects are underway across the area according to The Anderson County Public Works Department.

Building and Codes

·         Applicable staff met with Economic Development, along with other County Departments, to discuss future site development for property located off Hwy 85 and Hwy 86. 

·         PERMITS SUBMITTED: 13 New Single-Family Dwelling and 2 Addition-Renovation; 2 Detached Garage/Accessory Buildings; 12 Electrical and HVAC Upgrades; 2 Swimming Pools; 3 Demolition; 7 Commercial

·         DRAWINGS SUBMITTED: Remodel to Claude Drive Quade-Plex, Kanpai of Tokyo Up-Fit located off Hwy 153, Mighty Dollar Up-Fit located off Hwy 28, Oakview Park Assisted Living located off Hood Road in Powdersville, Scott Ward Up-Fit located in Pendleton, Sun Gro Electrical Service for Diesel Pump, Super Shop Addition located off Hwy 76, Tire Pro located off Hwy 29 North, Electrical for WS Lee Combined Cycle and various resubmittals

Development Standards

·         Land Use Board of Zoning Appeals met Thursday and approved the following Variances and or Special Exceptions:

·         Approval granted for Freedom Fences, a veterinary clinic and temporary shelter to provide for medical services for rescued dogs located on Denver Road, Anderson.

·         Approval granted for a reduction of side yard setbacks for a proposed RV Cover located on Highway 86, Easley.

·         Application denied for Bojangles Restaurant located on Highway 86 to add additional signage.

·         Planning Commission met on Tuesday and approved a land use application for a proposed tattoo facility located in Piedmont.

·         SITE PLAN REVIEW:

Q-Trip Convenience Store located on Highway 86, Piedmont.

Bojangles, landscaping plan- substitution requested-revision Highway 86, Piedmont.

Siren’s Cove Tattoo Facility located on Highway 153, Piedmont

·         COMPLIANCE ISSUES:

Complaint of an Illegal Business, located at 112 D Halter Drive, Piedmont.

Solid Waste

·         The Belk Company is continuing construction on the new Slabtown Convenience Center. Lighting has been installed and all electrical work is complete. Staff is working on placing the necessary signage, equipment and containers at the site. We appreciate Building and Grounds helping us with landscaping at the front entrance ways at the site. Final inspection of the site is scheduled for June 16, 2015.

Stormwater

·         A construction stormwater fee structure that would adequately fund only the construction element of the county’s stormwater program was created and given to the Administrator. The current fee generates approximately $35,000 in annual revenue; approximately $244,000 is needed.

·         Conducted a plan review meeting with the engineer working on the Hanna Crossing permit application. It is a proposed commercial park development across Hwy 81 from T.L. Hanna High School.

·         Conducted a plan review meeting with engineers, Duke Power staff, and DHEC concerning one of the stormwater permit applications related to the Lee Steam Station conversion project.

·         Met on-site with the owner of the lots within Winding Stream Subdivision concerning the cease and desist violation notice for illicit discharge of sediment issued last week. The meeting was to clarify the problems, and what the expectations were to achieve compliance.

·         The pre-construction meeting for Project Machine was conducted.

Wastewater

·         We are now online with credit card payments; customers can now pay their sewer payment on our website, or by calling 1-866-239-6925. Customers can also make sewer payments by using bank drafts effective June 5th. There is no fee to the customer for these services.

·         ROW crew will be cutting in the Powdersville /Piedmont areas this week. They found one damaged manhole frame that needed to be replaced due to vandalism.

·         Started our CCTV inspection of Loblolly subdivision this week, and so far we have found no problems .Our goal is to locate and correct or prevent any problems as we find them.  We plan to complete inspections next week.

·         Set up meeting with ReWa to discuss capacity issues in their pump station that serves the Hwy 153 area.

·         Answered Economic Development questions for site off Hwy 86, and also answered capacity fee questions for a project in the Alliance Industrial Park.
