At approximately 10:05 a.m., in a special called meeting held Saturday morning at Pelzer Town Hall, Mayor Steve McGregor and Councilmembers Cheryl Beaudreau and Donna Ide approved second and final reading on the ordinance to annex the Pelzer voting pricinct.

In doing so, the town’s size has more than doubled, bringing residents of the upper and lower mill villages, and surrounding areas, officially into the town limits.

Town officials were joined by Pelzer Attorney Jimmy King, Pelzer Administrator Skip Watkins and residents of the newly incorporated town, Duane and Kim Wilson, Gilbert Garrett, Jimmy Harrison and Roger Scott, for the historic moment.

Mayor Steve McGregor said, “History was made today. It has been along time coming.”
