HELEN WEEKS

PIEDMONT – Helen Nan Glenn Weeks, 87, wife of the late Joseph Wood Weeks, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2015.

Born in Piedmont, she was a daughter of the late William Winfield and Pearl Lister Glenn. She was a member of Piedmont First Baptist Church.

She is survived by sons, William Glenn Weeks (Lisa) of Anderson, James Donald Weeks (Rene) of Piedmont and Larry Wood Weeks (Nanci) of Fountain Inn; grandchildren, Abbie Weymouth (Steve), William Joseph Weeks (Mai), Baylie Weeks, Katie-Laken Weeks and Kylie Weeks; great-grandchild, Jade Weeks.

She was predeceased by sister, Martha Glenn; brother, Billy Glenn.

Visitation was from 1:00 to 3:00 PM Saturday, September 12 at Piedmont First Baptist Church.

The service followed at 3:00 PM at the church.

Burial was at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

CAREY MICHAEL ALVERSON

Carey “Big Country” Alverson, 29, of Pelzer, husband of Adrianne Knight Alverson, died Sept. 6, 2015 at his home.

Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Melanie Alverson.

He is survived by children, J.T. and Rylee; and sister, Brandi Garrett; and grandmother, Dot Alverson.

He was a member of Conestee COGOp.

Funeral service was held Friday at Conestee Church of God of Prophecy. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Memorials for the children may be made in memory of Carey at any Wells Fargo location.

JAMES KERNELLS

James Guyton Kernnells, 81, of Piedmont, widower of Lillian Davis Kernells, died Sunday, September 6, 2015.

Born in Williamston, he was a son of the late Willie Eugene and John Anne Jones Kernells.

Surviving are his children, Patricia Davis, Guyton Kernells, and Mary Faye Earnhardt; sisters, Martha Payne and Lydia Cherry; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside service was held Sept. 11 at Pine Lawn Cemetery, Pelzer.

GARY DAVIS

Gary Curtis Davis, 74, of Williamston, died Thursday, September 10, 2015.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

A graveside service was held Friday, September 11 at White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery.

ELAINE M. BROWN FRASIER

Elaine M. Brown Frasier, of Williamston, wife of Charles Frasier, died Sunday, September 6, 2015 at her home.

She was born on August 19, 1941.

Surviving are her children, Franklin E. Lewis and Kelly L. Hake, both of the home; Joe M., Lewis of Williamston; Robert Q. S. Lewis of Pennsylvania; and Joshua E. Frasier of Honea Path.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #81 in Williamstson.

She was a licensed cosmetologist in Pennsylvania and South Carolina.

ROSA LEE JACKSON CALDWELL

Rosa Lee Jackson Caldwell, 72, of Greenville, died Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at McCall Hospice House.

Born in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late L. J. Williams and Ginnie Lou Pinson Drummond.

She was married to the late Andrew Caldwell.

Surviving are daughters, Jacqueline Rene Jackson Pearson of Simpsonville, and Barbara Bonaparte of Piedmont; son, Travis Jackson of Greenville; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Private funeral services were held.

JOAN E. WILLIAMS TURNER

Joan E. Williams Turner, 87, of Greenville, died Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015 at Heartland Healthcare Greenville, East.

She was born in the Bronx, NY to the late Henry C. and Ruth Williams.

She was the assistant administrator for Allen Temple A.M.E. Church in Greenville and was a member of the church.

She is survived by a son, Michael E. Turner of Bronx, NY; five daughters, Jean E. Turner Kelly of Brooklyn, NY, Madeline Alice Simmons of Queens, NY, Angela Ernestine Edmond of Piedmont, Delores Ruth Moore, and Cheryl Ann Turner, both of Queens, NY; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

JACK MANLEY

Jack Edward Manley, 67, of Belton, husband of Sallie Howard Manley, died Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at his home.

Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Roy and Vivian Dockins Manley.  He was a Vietnam veteran.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are son, Rodney Ray “Joe” Coward of Idaho; daughter, Crystal Wren Cawthon of Williamston; brother, David Manley of Greenville; sisters, Judy Moody of Travelers Rest and Linda Medlin of Greenville; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. Monday, September 14, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

A graveside service followed  at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Anderson.

WILLIAM ‘RICHARD’ HOLLAND

William “Richard” Holland, 68, of Easley, died Saturday, September 12, 2015.

Born in Greenville he was the son of Jeanette Crowe Holland Gibson and the late William Earl Holland.

He served in the U.S. Navy, was employed with Duke Power Company and was a wholesale car salesman.

He is survived by one daughter, Kimberly Holland Skelton of Piedmont; one son, Chris Holland of Williamston; and one granddaughter.

Funeral service was held Tuesday, Sept. 15 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest Chapel. Burial followed in Graceland Cemetery, West.

Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital, 950 West Faris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605.

EDITH SEPKO

Edith Marie Elswick Sepko, 88, of Taylors, died September 13, 2015.

She was predeceased by her parents, Grant and Leola Elswick; and her husband, John Joseph Sepko.

She is survived by four children, John Charles Sepko of Collierville, TN, Kenneth Sepko of Greer, Linda Marie Wnukowski of Piedmont, and Mark Sepko of Lowell, IN; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Brenton Baptist Church in Brenton, WV.

Funeral services will be held in Pineville, WV.

MARGARET ODOM

PELZER – Margaret Elizabeth Watson Mahaffey Odom, 97, widow of Jack Odom, entered into rest Sunday, September 13, 2015.

She was twice married, first to the late Sam Mahaffey.

Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Elizabeth Spearman Watson. She was retired from the Kendall Company and was the oldest member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she belonged to the Rebekah Sunday School Class.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Mike Creamer of Anderson; grandchildren, Dalen Creamer and wife, Ashley of Williamston, Jonathan Creamer and wife, Carol of Pendleton; great-grandchildren, Emma and Chandler Creamer; step-children, Agnes Hutto, Doris Crosby (Legre), Patricia Koop (Dale), Gene Odom; step-daughter-in-law, Emily Ann Odom; numerous step-grands, step-great-grands and step-great-great grands.

She was predeceased by step-children, Steve and Jackie Odom; sisters, Frances Wood and Dot Garrett; brothers, Major, Gordon and Truman Watson.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Visitation was held from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 16, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

The service followed at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.  Burial was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.

JOSEPH ‘JOE’ EDWARD COLLINS, SR.

Joseph “Joe” Edward Collins, Sr., 74,  died Saturday, September 12, 2015.

Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Charles and Jo Ann Elrod Collins.

He was the owner of Collins Liquor Mart.

He is survived by two step-daughters, Tena Fleming, and Cheryl Goelz; one son, Joey Collins; Helen Collins, mother of his child; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be Thursday, Sept. 17 at noon at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

WILLIAM ‘BILL’ DAVIS

William “Bill” Louis Davis, 75, of Easley, husband of Patsy Howard Davis, died Monday, September 14, 2015.

Born in Pelzer, he was the son of the late William Pinkney and Americus Burns Davis.  He was formerly employed with Bes Pac and a member of Jones Hill Church of God, Dacusville.  He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving in addition to his wife are step-children, Penny McLauchlin, Sara Anders, Benjamin, Stephen and Matthew Chadwick; sisters, Mary Galloway and Ann Beacham; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 Thursday, September 17, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. The service will follow at 2:00 in the funeral home chapel.  Burial will be at Pine Lawn Cemetery, Pelzer.

DORIS LAWLESS

PELZER – Doris Virginia Woodcock Lawless, 88, wife of the late William Ralph Lawless, Sr., passed away Monday, September 14, 2015.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Liston Livingston and Sara Louise Woodcock. She was a member of West Pelzer Baptist Church.

She is survived by son, Ronnie Lawless (Lynn) of Williamston; daughter, Deborah Simmons (Virgil) of Pelzer; sisters, Pearl Schilling of Columbia and Bobbie Sue Faulkner of Charleston; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; Robin Hendricks and Juanita Cape, both raised in the home.

She was predeceased by son, William R. Lawless, Jr.; several brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 pm Friday, September 18 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

The service will follow at 3:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.

Burial will be at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
