Stan Ashley recently announced he is running for Anderson County Sheriff.

Ashley is a veteran law enforcement officer who has served Anderson County and its citizens for over 20 years in law enforcement. He has also spent the last 30 years serving with Anderson County Fire services as a volunteer and most recently as an Arson Investigator. Ashley has a great love for Anderson County and the people he serves and wishes to announce his candidacy for Sheriff of Anderson County.

He has been married to Sylvia Payne Ashley for 38 years and they have two children, Luke and Lindsey. Stan and his wife reside in Sandy Springs. Stan graduated from Belton-Honea Path High School and then went on to attend Erskine College where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology.

Ashley started his law enforcement career in 1991 with the Pendleton Police Department and served as a uniformed patrol officer. In 2005, Stan went to work with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Department as a Criminal Investigator. During his time in the CID (Criminal Investigations Division) of the ACSO, Stan worked property crimes, crimes against children and vulnerable adults, large animal rescue and homicides. He left the Anderson County Sheriff’s Department in March 2014 to take on a position as Arson Investigator with Anderson County Fire Services.

Ashley would like to take this opportunity to announce his candidacy for Sheriff of Anderson County and ask for your support and the opportunity to change the pattern of law enforcement in our county. It is time to remove politics from law enforcement and start utilizing our tax dollars to insure that our hard earned money is being spent to protect our families, neighbors, and property. This can only be done through transparency in law enforcement. By reallocating our current budget, we can move forward in placing more deputies on the road at all times allowing our agency to be proactive instead of reactive.

Ashley is committed to providing our law enforcement officers with the maximum training that insures each officer is prepared to do their job safely, effectively, efficiently, and fairly. This can only be done by insuring our officers are trained properly and have the desire to serve everyone in our community fairly.

His goal as Sheriff of Anderson County is to advance the Anderson County Sheriff’s Department to the highest level of law enforcement in our State. It is also necessary that we work toward retaining our officers that we train by insuring they are compensated for their training and work performance. Stan would like to make the Anderson County Sheriff’s Department “the agency” that every law enforcement officer wants to work for in this State.
