Saturday, October 3, 2015, is the deadline to register to vote in the November 3 elections for the Towns of Pelzer, Honea Path and West Pelzer. State Law requires that a person must be registered at least 30 days prior to an election in order to vote in that election.

“It is extremely important for folks to register to vote and to keep their registration information updated. We made it convenient and easy to do online at www.scvotes.org , in-person at our office, or by mail; voters simply choose what method works best for them,” stated Katy Smith, Director of Voter Registration and Elections.

The Voter Registration Office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. It is located at 301 N. Main Street, downtown Anderson. You need a current photo i.d. and documentation that has your name and current residential address when registering in-person. Some of the acceptable documents are S.C. Driver’s license, current utility bill, or bank statement.

Citizens that choose to register to vote by mail or online must do so on or by October 3. As a result of the Help America Vote Act, you must attach a form of ID when registering to vote by mail. The following are acceptable forms of identification: current and valid photo identification or a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck stub, government document. If identification other than photo ID is attached, it must show your current and correct name and address. Completed applications should be mailed to P.O. Box 8002, Anderson SC 29622. This form is available for download at scvotes.org or at http://www.andersoncountysc.org/Departments/Registration-Elections Applications with the October 3 post mark will be processed and voters will receive notification by mail.

The October 3 registration deadline also applies to those that were previously registered in the county that moved outside of Anderson County or out-of-State. If you returned to reside in one of these towns and wish to vote you must re-register.
