Firefighters from several Anderson County Departments were deployed to Columbia Sunday to assist with rescue and water supply efforts following catastrophic flooding.

Whitefield Fire Department provided a tanker truck to support water supply operations while the city is without water.

Firefighters from Whitefield, West Pelzer and Friendship Fire Departments also provided manpower to support the statewide tanker task force operation, while others responded to assist with search and rescue operations.

Whitefield’s tanker joined an initial group of 15 tankers that were deployed from across the state, and remains in Columbia this week along with over 30 additional tankers to support the work that started Sunday night.

Fire Departments were bringing in water to three Columbia area hospitals during the flooding.
