RUTH FRICKS DALRYMPLE

Ruth Lollis Fricks Dalrymple, 95, of Pelzer, widow of Joe Dalrymple, died Saturday, October 10, 2015.

She was twice married, first to the late Herman Fricks.

Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Irene Rainey Lollis.  She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving are sons, William W. “Bill” Fricks of Williamston, and Milford Fricks of Pelzer; daughter, Carolyn Clamp of Belton; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great grandchildren; two great-great-great grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Tuesday, October 13, in the Chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

Burial followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.

LEONARD HOLLIDAY

Leonard Foster Holliday, 75, of Belton, husband of Laura Campbell Holliday, died Tuesday, October 6, 2015.

Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Albert Foster and Sara Frances Ellison Holliday.  He was retired from Weavecraft Rug Company and a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are son, Len Holliday of Belton; and three grandsons.

A graveside service was held Friday at the Garden of Memories in Belton.

SUE FOWLER

Nettie Sue Mullinax Fowler, 76, of Simpsonville, widow of Frank James Fowler, Jr., died Tuesday, October 6, 2015.

Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Truman Harrison and Eva Sue Caldwell Mullinax.  She was retired from Southern Flooring and a member of Standing Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors include daughter, Janey Fowler of Simpsonville; sons, Jimmy Fowler of Simpsonville, Jody Fowler of Fountain Inn, Johnny Fowler of Simpsonville; sisters, Elizabeth Bowen of Mauldin, Linda Hawkins of Simpsonville; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Friday at Standing Springs Baptist Church. Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

GERALDINE RICHIE

Geraldine “Jerry” Martin Richie, 83, of Williamston, widow of Jack Marshall Richie, died Thursday, October 8, 2015.

Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late Lee Roy and Lida Kelly Martin.  She was retired from Clark-Schwebel and a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Survivors include grandchildren reared in the home, Bradley Timms of Williamston and Brandy Timms Villamil of Jacksonville, NC; four grandchildren; sister, Sara M. Rogers of Belton.

Funeral service was held Sunday, October 11, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Entombment followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Anderson.

COHEN BAYNE

PIEDMONT – Cohen Thomas Bayne, infant son of Cohen Tapp and Jessica Davis Bayne, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by sister, Callie Bayne of the home; twin sister, Campbell Bayne currently in NICU; predeceased sister, Ada Grace Bayne; grandparents, Delbert and Rachele Hart of Pelzer, Tim and Sonya Davis of Piedmont, Cathy Bayne of Pelzer, Dawn and Greg Modzel of Piedmont; predeceased grandfather, Charlie Bayne; great-grandparents, Tal and Ann Cooper of Piedmont, Ed Lee Davis of Piedmont, Cohen and Katherine Davidson of Piedmont, Tap Bayne of Simpsonville; predeceased great-grandparents, Ada Cooper, Joan Davis, Nell Bayne, and Grace Bayne; surviving are many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation was from 12:30 to 2:00 pm Sunday, October 11 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

The service followed at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.

Burial was held at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

DEACON WILLIAM ROBERT PITTS, JR.

Deacon William Robert Pitts, Jr., 82, of Greenville, died Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at home.

He is survived by his wife, Bertha Adams Pitts of the home; daughters, Sandra Zachery of Simpsonville, and Sherrie C. Pitts of Greenville; sons, William E. Pitts of Lyman, Winfred N. Pitts of Rock Hill, Gary W. Pitts of Greenville, and Richard A. Pitts of Powdersville; sister, Mary M. Pitts of Pickens; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Friday, Oct. 9 at Watkins, Garrett & Woods Mortuary. Burial followed in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

HAROLD CHAPMAN JR.

BELTON – Harold Carlisle Chapman Jr., 69, husband of Martha Jean Gilreath Chapman, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2015.

Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late Harold Carlisle Chapman, Sr. and Eunice Mae Owens Chapman.

He was a U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Tammie Wynette Duncan of Bakersville, NC and Tracy Michelle Chapman of Belton; son, Harold Carlisle Chapman, III of Knoxville, TN; sisters, Nora Jones of Williamston and Bobbie Moulder of Ringgold, GA; brother, Billy Chapman of Belton; grandchildren, Dyllon, Prestyn and Kensley Chapman, Kelsey Ellison, Tasha Yousey, Candi Duncan, William and Destiny Chitwood; five great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by brother, Doug Chapman.

Visitation was held from 3:00 to 4:00 pm Wednesday, October 14 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

The service followed at 4:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.

EDNA ROLLISON MORRIS

Edna Marie Rollison Morris, 89, widow of Jerry Millard Morris, Sr., died Monday, October 12, 2015.

Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Newton and Addie Hiott Rollison.

She was a nurse and a charter member of Boulevard Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Melisa M. Glenn of Belton; son, Jerry M. Morris, Jr. of Anderson; three grandchildren; two sisters, Addie Cobb of Williamston, and Lila Harbert of Anderson; and one brother, Roy Rollison of Belton.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at Sullivan-King Mortuary Chapel.

MARIE ROBINSON

Marie Garrison Robinson, 90, of Pelzer, wife of the late Woodroe Wales Cooper, died Sunday, October 11, 2015.

Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Arlon Lee and Bertha Campbell Garrison.

She was a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church in Piedmont.

She is survived by children, Glendale Grainger of Pelzer, Woodroe W. Cooper of Greenville, Tyrone Cooper of Columbia, Wyndel Cooper of Greenville, Clovia Marie Swayngham of Greenville, Marlow F. Cooper of Byron, GA, and Mellodee Cureton of the home; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral service was held Wednesday, Oct. 14 at Rehoboth Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

PAUL LEWIS

Paul Clifford Lewis, 69, of Pelzer, husband of Shirley Peden Lewis, died Thursday, October 8, 2015.

Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late Clifford Alexander Lewis and Edith Geraldine Dorr Lewis.

He was retired from Builders First Source in Greenville, was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church, and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Angie Lewis Moseley of Greer, Carree Lewis Taylor of Pickens, Patrick Peden of Williamston and Dean Peden of Lyman; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Katherine L. Keith of Boston, MA, Jacqueline L. Beavers of Easley, Sandra L. Thomas and Elizabeth L. Medlin, both of Pickens.

A celebration of life service was held Tuesday, Oct. 13 at Rock Springs Baptist Church. Burial followed in M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson.

CLYDE FRANK HAMMONDS

Clyde Frank Hammonds, 96, of Williamston, husbsand of the late Maude Lee Smith Hammonds died Thursday, October 8, 2015 in Greenville.

Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Tom Hammonds and Maybell Lollis Hammonds Ford.

He was a member of Forest Hill Baptist Church in Anderson.

He is survived by three children, Steve Hammonds, Claire Coker and Jearleen Brown; two grandsons; three great-grandchildren; two half-sisters, Lois Ford Smith and Faye Ford Stewart.

Funeral service was held Oct. 13 in the chapel of Cox Funeral Home, Belton. Entombment followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

WALTER EDWIN KING

Walter Edwin King, 93, of Liberty, died Monday, October 12, 2015 at his home.

He was the widower of Thelma Lorene Stewart King and son of the late Walter Leo and Gladys Juanita Smith King.

He was a founding member of Ruhamah Baptist Church and was self-employed in the timber business.

Surviving are a daughter, Brenda Tyler of Powdersville; three sons, Horace King, Randal King, and Larry King, all of Liberty; sister, Martha Daniels of Greenville; 12 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Liberty Memorial Gardens. He will lie in state for viewing from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Thursday at the Liberty Mortuary.
