Anderson County Public Works Department reported the following projects underway across the county:

Building and Codes

·         We continue to work with the Planning Division on identifying Substandard Structures that may qualify for the Neighborhood Initiative Program (NIP) the County was awarded. Based on lists of structures identified, our role is to determine if they qualify as Substandard, post the proper notice and take pictures as required. Substandard Structures identified this week were in the Belton and Honea Path Area.

·         PERMITS SUBMITTED: 15 New Single-Family Dwelling and 6 Addition-Renovation; 9 Detached Garage/Accessory Building; 1 Swimming Pool; 1 Demolition; 6 Electrical and HVAC Upgrades; 11 Commercial Including: Pizza Ranch Remodel, Family Dollar Electrical Upgrade, Retaining Wall, Electrical for Grinder Pump, Sign for Three Bridges Subdivision, Anderson Bakery Re-Roof, Sign for Best Western, Subdivision Sign for Hunt Meadows, 2 Electrical for Irrigation at Hunt Meadows Subdivision, Palmetto Athletics Gas Installation; 11 Mobile Home including: New Homes, Change of Ownership, moves from other counties, change of location, etc.

·         DRAWINGS SUBMITTED: Chambers Grading Inc. Remodel located off of Hwy 17 in Piedmont, Hwy 81 Storage Expansion – 3 new Buildings, New Gas Heaters for Palmetto Athletics, SUN GRO Bark Plant – Electrical for Container, New Miracle Hill Ministries Building located off of Hwy 153 in Powdersville and various resubmittals

·         BUFFERYARD INSPECTIONS:

§  Watson Engineering located on Shiloh Church Road-Landscaping Completed

§  Heatherstone Apartments located off Highway 153-Landscaping Completed

Stormwater

·         The conceptual designs for repairs to Broadway Lake Dam were completed. A meeting with DHEC’s dam permitting section has been requested to go over the designs and determine DHEC’s expectations for the permit application. We’re trying to schedule it. I’m waiting to hear if the dates I sent next week will work.

·         A complaint investigation on Shiloh Road in Piedmont resulted in a cease and desist being issued due to land disturbing activity without a permit. No sediment and erosion controls were in place. The complaint was about mud in the roadway.

·         Major Modifications approved for Project Machine and Wild Meadows Subdivision.

·         Reviews were conducted for Upstate Industrial Lot 15, James Lake Subdivision, and Powerhouse Christian Church.
