SAMUEL DALRYMPLE

Samuel L. Dalrymple, Jr., 84, of Williamston, died November 5, 2015.

He was born in Middlefield, NY, to Samuel and Edna Dalrymple.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a farmer.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Dalrymple; brother, Fred Dalrymple; step-brother, Robert Lewis; three daughters, Patricia Stewart, Jean Marie Whitaker, Deborah Losier; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held in the home.

RUTH G. BANISTER

Ruth Ann Garrett Banister, 88, of Williamston, died Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Brookdale Anderson.

Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Mary Elizabeth Staggs Garrett and Noah Thomas Garrett.

She was a professional photographer.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Crawford Owens of Anderson; one grandson; brothers, Leon Garrett of Belton and Franklin Garrett of Greenville; and sister, Louise Heatherly of Belton.

She was twice married, first to the late Clarence Edgar Crawford, and then to husband Carl Banister.

Graveside service was held Nov. 15 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

RUTH G. BANISTER

Ruth Ann Garrett Banister, 88, of Williamston, died Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Brookdale Anderson.

Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Mary Elizabeth Staggs Garrett and Noah Thomas Garrett.

She was a professional photographer.

EDDIE BO McCULLOUGH

Edward Lamar McCullough, 54, of Anderson, died Friday, Nov. 11, 2015 at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born in Anderson he was the son of the late George Edward McCullough and the late Faye Smith McCullough.

He was owner of Eddie’s Grading Company and was owner and operator of Big Eddie’s BBQ restaurant and catering. He was also past Chief of the Flat Rock-Bowen Fire Department.

He was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are his wife, Angela Hood McCullough of the home; daughter, Meredith Ashton McCullough of the home; step-mother, Joyce Hulme McCullough of Anderson; half-brother, Milton Dwayne McLesky of Evans, GA; two half-sisters, Judy Betterly of Piedmont, and Debbie Cates of Simpsonville.

Funeral service was held Monday at the Anderson Civic Center. Interment followed at South Lawn Memorial Gardens.

JANICE M. MOORE

Janice Roie Metz Moore, 62, of Pelzer, died November 14, 2015 at St. Francis Eastside.

Born in Spartanburg County, she was a daughter of the late James Thomas Metz, Sr. and Roie Blackwell Metz.

She was a retired school teacher and a member of The Chapel at Beulah Community Church.

Surviving are her husband, Earl M. Moore, Jr. of the home; and two brothers, Keith Metz of Greer and James T. Metz, Jr. of Danville, KY.

Graveside services were held Wednesday at Wood Memorial Park.

ARTHUR ‘JIGGS’ WILLIAM CUMMINGS

PELZER – Arthur “Jiggs” William Cummings, 84, of Pelzer, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2015. He was married to Emma Kinsler Cummings.

In addition to his spouse, he is survived by grandchildren, Ashley Ruth Hankins and William Dylan Hankins; brothers, David, Furman and Clyde Cummings; sister, Vivian Kerr.

He was predeceased by his parents John Robert and Elsie Broome Cummings, a daughter and son-in-law, Wanda Ruth and Tony Hankins; his first wife, Ruth Shackleford Cummings and 18 brothers and sisters.

The family held a memorial service on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at 3 p.m. at Williamston First Baptist Church where he was a member. The service was officiated by Rev. Brad Bardin.

BILLIE ‘GUS’ SINGLETON

WILLIAMSTON – Billie “Gus” Singleton, 89, widower of Barbara Cobb Singleton, died Sunday, November 15, 2015.

Born in Greensboro, NC, he was a son of the late James Oscar, Sr. and Florine Lollis Singleton.  He was retired from the Cushman Plant and was also a retired U.S. Army Master Sergeant, having served a total of thirty-two years including two tours in Japan during WWII.

Survivors include son, Mike Singleton of Williamston and brother, J.O. Singleton of Inman.

He was predeceased by a son, Roger Singleton; two brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. Thursday, November 19, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

The service will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.  Burial will be at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

JAY ELROD

PELZER – Jay H. Elrod, 77, husband of Bonnie Wilson Elrod, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2015.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Ben and Hattie Dodgens Elrod. He retired from Michelin Tire and was a U.S. Army veteran.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Benny Earl Taylor of Pelzer, Lonnie “Douglas” Johnson, Jr. (Alisha) of Liberty and Anthony J. Elrod of the home; daughters, Cathy Elrod Manley of Williamston, Melanie Elrod Gaddis of Fountain Inn, Lisa Jane Hayes of Myrtle Beach and Andrea Christine Norton of Wilson, NC; sister, Sarah Elrod McCullough of Belton; fourteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by son, Samuel Gilbert Taylor; two brothers; two sisters.

A graveside service was held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, November 17 at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

GEORGIA A. COOPER

Georgia Anna Gunter Cooper, 81, of Pelzer, died Sunday, November 15, 2015.

She was the wife of the late Olin Cooper and the daughter of the late William Clayton Gunter and Anna Bailey Gunter. She was a member of Cedar Falls Baptist Church.

She is survived by one son, Richard Cooper of Pelzer; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19 in the Cannon Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Cannon Memorial Park.

BOB SUMMEY

Bobby Lee Summey, 79, of Anderson, died Monday, November 16, 2015.

Born in Asheville, he was the son of the late Dewel and Edith Pace Summey. He was a member of the Navy Reserves and worked for McKee Foods. He was a member of Revive Church in Piedmont.

Surviving are his wife, Gloria Blackwood Summey of the home; son, Marlon L. Summey of Williamston; two granddaughters; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Wanda Guthrie of Greenville.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sullivan-King Mortuary. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

ANN STONE

PELZER – Ann Shackleford Stone, 73, widow of Lee Stone, passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at her home.

Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late Garvin Lee and Eunice Waters Shackleford.  She was retired from Kemet Corporation and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include children, Carol Clardy and Tony Stone, both of Williamston, Becky Stone, Mandy Stone, Mark Maness, all of Pelzer; sisters, Brenda Pridmore and Jo Ferguson, both of Pelzer, Mary Howard of Piedmont; ten grandchildren;  one great-grandchild.

She was predeceased by a brother, Bob Shackleford.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 pm on Friday, November 20 at Pelzer First Baptist Church.

The service will follow at 3:00 pm at the church.  Burial will be at Pine Lawn Cemetery, Pelzer.

The family is at the home of Carol Clardy, 6 Stewart Street, Williamston.

‘WREN’ STREET

GREENVILLE – Lowren “Wren” Kathaleen Street, 46, died Monday, November 16, 2015.

Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Harvard Jefferson and Frances Griffin Street.  She was employed with Yellow Cab.

She is survived by a brother, Martin Franklin (Betty) Street and special friends, Camella Ramharrack and Ken Babwah; nieces, Stacy Allison and Ruth Boyer; nephew, Thomas Parsons.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 21, at Gray Mortuary Chapel, Pelzer.
