OLLIE JEAN HIOTT, BERRY CARLTON, DOROTHY MAE RUTLEDGE COTHRAN, HAZEL HENDERSON, MARIA STONE

OLLIE JEAN HIOTT

WILLIAMSTON – Ollie Jean Branyon Hiott, 92, widow of William Roy Hiott, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2015.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Emma McCurley Branyon.  She was an active member of Whitefield Baptist Church.

Survivors include daughters, Betty Jo Bagwell (Jack) of Williamston, Nancy Brock (Johnny) of Williamston, Tammy Cook (John) of Cincinnati, OH; sons, David Hiott (Linda) of Williamston, Frank Hiott (Kay) of Atlanta, GA; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by six brothers and three sisters.

She is the last member of her immediate family.

Visitation was held from 1:00 – 2:45 pm Friday, November 27, at Whitefield Baptist Church.  The service followed at 3:00 pm at the church.  Burial was in the church cemetery.

Flowers were accepted or memorials may be made to the Whitefield Baptist Church Child Development Center, 207 Mitchell Rd., Belton, SC 29627.

The family is at the home of David and Linda Hiott, 210 Dacus Drive, Williamston.

BERRY CARLTON

Berry Macks “Hot Rod” Carlton, 35, of Piedmont, husband of Holly Phillips Carlton, died Thursday, November 26, 2015.

Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Gary Macks Carlton and Nancy June Crowder. A Team Leader at Metromont Corporation, he was a member of Powdersville Community Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Mark Sanders of Belton, Haley Mefferd, Halyn and Hollyn Carlton all of the home; sisters, Tabitha Pruitt, Teresa Figuroa, Samantha Crowder, Emily Lindsey; brothers, Thermon Everett, Noah Crowder, Michael and Randy Bryant.

He was predeceased by father-in-law, David Dowell.

Funeral service was held Sunday, November 29 at Powdersville Community Church. Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to Berry Carlton’s Children’s Fund through Wells Fargo Bank.

DOROTHY MAE RUTLEDGE COTHRAN

PELZER – Dorothy Mae Rutledge Cothran, 84, widow of Thomas Arabian Cothran, Jr. of Pelzer, died Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at her residence.

Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Jesse P. and Ruby Ellison Rutledge. She retired as owner of a ladies apparel store, she was a member of the Colonial Dames, UDC and DAR. She was also a member of Washington Baptist Church.

Surviving are: sons, Tommy Cothran, III (Carol) and James Michael Cothran (Jo Ann) all of Belton, Jerry Cothran (Sharon) of Pelzer, Gary Cothran (Vickie) of Williamston, Douglas Cothran (Judy) of Honea Path; daughters, Donna Campbell (Billy) of Belton, Vicki Coker (Alan) of Pelzer, Yvonne Darnell (Greg) and Joann Yates (Gene) all of Belton; brother, Bill Rutledge of Belton; sisters, Laura Mize of Anderson, Elizabeth Wilson and Gladys Roach both of Belton; 24 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren and their families.

She was preceded in death by: brother, James Rutledge; grandson, Adam Matthew Cothran and daughter-in-law, Tammy Holliday Cothran.

Services will be held 11:00am Friday at Washington Baptist Church Family Life Center in Pelzer with Rev. Stan Candler officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Shoals Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:30pm until 7:30pm at Washington Baptist Church Family Life Center.

The family would also like to give thanks to her special caregivers, Jennifer Newton and Debborah Gilmer.

HAZEL HENDERSON

Hazel Evajean Prater Henderson, 84, of Pelzer, wife of the late Claude L. Henderson, died Tuesday, November 24, 2015.

Born in Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Marshall Allen and Lillie Fitzgerald Prater.

She is survived by son, Phillip E. Henderson of Pelzer; daughter, Joan Henderson of Greenville; sisters, Josephine Gray of Mauldin and Thelma Kinard of Saluda; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Friday, November 27 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

MARIA STONE

Maria Tate Stone, 57, of Belton, died Monday, November 30, 2015 at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Leon Henry Tate and Margaret Ables Tate. She was an employee of Southeastern Pet-Vacc and attended NewSpring Church in Anderson.

She is survived by her husband, David L. Stone; children, Austin Wesley Stone of Williamston, James Cason Stone of Anderson, and Hannah Kristen Stone of Belton; one grandson; brother, R. Russell Tate of Greenville; and sister, Beth T. Herron of Belton.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, December 3 at Sullivan-King Mortuary. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
