Anderson County Department of Public Works reported the following projects underway in the county:

Building and Codes

·         Chief Inspector addressed complaints of excessive mud in the road at the Buckland/Rivendell Subdivision due to construction. An on-site meeting took place with the Builder Representatives to outline the necessary steps/timing to clean the roads up and install additional silt fencing as needed. Maintenance of the existing silt fencing was also discussed. The Builder Representatives agreed to immediately clean the roads and maintain/install additional silt fencing. A follow-up inspection was conducted the following Monday and all corrections had been made. We will continue to monitor this subdivision for compliance.  

·         We continue to work with the Planning Department to inspect properties that qualify for the NIP (Neighborhood Initiative Program). A new list has been submitted to investigate in the Iva are. Our role is to determine if they qualify as Substandard, post the proper notice and take pictures as required

·         PERMITS SUBMITTED: 10 New Single-Family Dwelling and 3 Addition-Renovation; 4 Detached Garage/Accessory Buildings; 7 Demolition; 10 Electrical and HVAC Upgrades; 5 Commercial Including: Caledonia Cabana Building, Caledonia Bath/Storage House, Duke Energy – WS Lee Administration Building, Mattress Firm Up-Fit, Electrical Service for Storage Building to Bruin Tile Co.; 14 Mobile Home including: New Homes, Change of Ownership, moves from other counties, change of location, etc.

·         DRAWINGS SUBMITTED:  E & I Modular Guardhouse, Michelin Open Shed Addition, Michelin ZP Loading Dock, Addition/Renovations to Industrial Maintenance & Service and various resubmittals

§  Orian Rugs Expansion located at the intersection of SC Highway 81N & Sam McGee Road, Anderson.

§  Proposed New Dollar General Store located on SC Highway 81N, Anderson.

§  Carmichael Latham Office/Warehouse Landscaping located on Prosperity Blvd. Piedmont.

§  New Industrial Building Expansion located on Cooper Lane & Corporate Drive, Powdersville.

§  Proposed Townhomes located on the corner of Old Pendleton Road/Brushy Creek Road, Easley.

§  Proposed Solar Farm located on Highway 8 & Ballard Road and Highway 86, Piedmont.

§  Happy Paws Kanie Doggy Daycare/Dog Grooming (Existing Building) located on Dobbins Bridge Road

·         LAND USE PERMITS APPROVED:

§  Duke Energy Anderson Ops Yard Expansion located on McGee Road, Anderson.

·         GRADING PERMITS ISSUED:

§  Duke Energy Anderson Ops Yard Expansion located on McGee Road, Anderson.

§  Orian Rugs Expansion located at the intersection of SC Highway 81 & Sam McGee Road, Anderson.

§  Richey Place Subdivision located on Three Bridges Road.

§  Wild Meadow Subdivision located on Oak Hill Road, Anderson.

·         SUBDIVISIONS:

§  Proposed eight (8) lot residential subdivision located on Old Pendleton Road across from Crestwood Court, Piedmont

§  Ellison Plantation, Floodplain Development Permit.

§  Race Track Subdivision, Floodplain Development Permit Required for creek crossing.

§  Hanna Crossings Subdivision located on Highway 81, Phase I.

·         COMPLIANCE ISSUES:

§  Illegal chickens located within a R-20 (Zoning District) A site inspection is scheduled for January 22, 2016 for removal. The site is located at 100 Graceview East (-Drakesfield Subdivision.)

§  Illegal temporary signage located in the Homeland Park Area. Signs are scheduled to be picked up Friday morning.

§  Removal of a mobile home located on Bishop Branch Road, Pendleton. A site inspection is scheduled for January 15, 2016.

Stormwater

·         A civil penalty was issued for lack of maintenance to the stormwater detention pond at the Hampton Inn at Alliance Parkway.

·         The manager is meeting with Clemson Extension staff next week about converting one of the detention ponds at Green Pond Event Center into a bioretention cell. Bioretention is an innovative stormwater practice that removes pollutants from runoff by filtering and biological processes. This will serve as an educational and demonstration project for residential and commercial development.

·         Reviews were conducted for James Lake Subdivision and Site Improvements for Expansion at Orian Rugs.

Solid Waste

·         Staff attended a “BAN THE TRASH” community meeting at the High Praises Church of God on Midway Road on January 7, 2015. The event was conducted by Councilperson Cindy Wilson, Representative Anne Thayer and resident Sara Crocker. Staff was there to help recruit Adopt-A-Spot groups, educate residents on litter and who to call for litter issues. We appreciate those who attended.

·         Repaired the hydraulic pump and cylinder on one of the Slabtown Convenience Center compactors this week.

Wastewater

·         Assisted design engineer with permitting new auto parts store in Powdersville.

·         Reviewed flow request submittal for new hotel and restaurant in Powdersville.

·         We are performing draw down test for the Powdersville master plan to determine accurate flow from our pump stations.
