Damages Journal building

The driver of a pickup truck escaped injury Friday afternoon when he lost control on an icy West Main Street  in Williamston and clipped an AT&T telephone pole in front of The Journal. The Journal office had some damge with the bottom of the pole stuck in the front door. Traffic on West Main Street was being rerouted until an AT&T crew could respond and remove the pole which was left hanging on phone lines. Williamston Fire Department and Police Department responded.

An AT&T crew readies to take down the damaged telephone pole, as Williamston Fire Fighters keep the road secure from traffic.
