MARGARET CHIPIWALT

Margaret Marion Markell Chipiwalt, 64, of Pelzer, wife of the late Floyd William Chipiwalt, died Tuesday, January 19, 2016.

Born in Alexandria, VA, she was the daughter of the late Elwood T. and Dorothy Ware Markell.

She is survived by daughter, Sarah Butler of the home; son, Jeremy Chipiwalt of Piedmont; brother, Edward Markell of Springfield, VA; and six grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Wednesday, January 27 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

Burial was in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

MARY HELEN GARNER

Mary Helen Collins Garner, 81, of Easley, wife of the late Earl Leroy Garner, died Thursday, January 21, 2016.

Born in Florence, she was a daughter of the late Andrew Elbert and Vivian Mae Mewborne Collins. She retired from Patrick B. Harris Hospital.

She is survived by children, Joe Garner of Anderson, Deborah Fowler of Powdersville, Lynn Snipes of St. Augustine, FL, Jean Knowles of Simpsonville, Sonja Timms of Townville, and Jerry Garner of Gilbert; sister, Sonja Cobb of Rockwood, TN; brother, Joseph Collins of Anchorage, AK; 19 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Saturday, January 23 at Pelzer First Baptist Church.

Burial followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

MIKE ROGERS

Charles Michael “Mike” Rogers, 58, of Pelzer, husband of Teresa Lynn Cooper Rogers, died Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at McCall Hospice House.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Charles and Barbara Davenport Rogers.  He was retired from Donaldson Fire Department and a member of Washington Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of the home; son, Michael Joshua Rogers and daughter, Beth Rogers King all of Simpsonville; five grandchildren; sister, Cindy Rogers and brother, Ricky Rogers, both of Pelzer.

The service was held Sunday at Washington Baptist Church. Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

EDDIE GRANT

PELZER—William Edward “Eddie” Grant, 69, died Friday, January 22, 2016.

Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late George Whiteside and Gladys Paxton Grant. He was retired from Eastman Machineries.

Surviving are sisters, Shelby Grant of the home, Grace Blyther of Pelzer; brother James Grant of Oregon; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two sisters.

A memorial service was held Monday, January 25, at 6:30 p.m. in the Gray Mortuary chapel.

ANNIE LOU ELLER

Annie Lou Williams Eller, 75, of Travelers Rest,  died Friday, January 22, 2016.

Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late James Harold Williams and Aletha Mary Shaw Brown.

Survivors include children, Timmy Wyatt of Marietta, Steve Williams of Greenville, Nina Mills of Travelers Rest, Shane Eller of Greenville; sisters, Lorinda Morgan of Piedmont, Lynn Slaton of Anderson, Belinda Henderson of Simpsonville; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Tuesday, January 26, in the Chapel of  Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed at the Williamston Cemetery.

TRAVIS DENARD

Travis Glen Denard, 31, of Piedmont, died Thursday, January 21, 2016.

Born in Columbia, he was an employee of Gregory’s Trailer Repair and attended New Life Community Church in Fountain Inn.

Surviving in addition to his father, Terry Glen Denard of Piedmont are; mother and stepfather, Charlotte Chavis Cohen (Jimmy) of Greer; sister, Kerrie Denard McClain of Greer; and grandmother, Jennie L. Denard of West Columbia.

Funeral service was held Tuesday at Sullivan-King Mortuary.

DAVID NEVIN CAMPBELL

David Nevin Campbell, 67, of Piedmont, died Sunday, January 24, 2016.

Surviving are daughters,  Jennifer Williams of Kona, HI, Vanessa Thomas of Blufton, and Kelly Savage of Greenville; eight grandchildren; nine siblings, and former spouse, Maureen Campbell.

Funeral service was held Friday, January 29 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown.

FRANCES PACK YOUNG

WEST PELZER – Frances Pack Young, 90, widow of Walther H. “Dub” Young died Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Pelzer, she was the daughter of the late Manning and Ethel Vines Pack. She was a lifelong member of Guthrie Grove Church of God of Abrahamic Faith. She owned and operated Piedmont Floral Co. until her retirement in 1985.

Surviving are: son, Walter “Walt” Young and wife Lora of Pelzer; daughter, Sheila Hiles and husband Gerald of Easley; sisters, Mabel Campbell of Abbeville, and Bonnie Partain and husband Bobby of Cheddar; four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her son Steve Young, nine sisters and two brothers.

Service was held 2pm Tuesday at Guthrie Grove Church of God of Abrahamic Faith with Pastor Mike Montgomery and Pastor Wally Winner officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

The family received friends prior to the service Tuesday at the church from 1pm until 1:45pm.

Flowers are optional or donations may be made to Guthrie Grove Church of God of Abrahamie Faith.

The family will be at the home of Gerald and Sheila Hiles, 112 Lake Rd. Easley, SC.

Cox Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

LILLIE MAE NEWTON

Lillie Mae Newton, 78, of Townville, died January 23, 2016.

She was born to Ida Mae Vaughn in Townville.

She was married to the late Luther “Don” Newton.

She retired from Clark-Schwebel, Inc. in Anderson and was a member of Townville Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by step-sons, Charlie Newton of Anderson, Don Newton, Jr. of Williamston; step-daughters, Donna Partain of Anderson, Brenda Moseley of Anderson; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Oconee Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel.

CHARLES VANDO HENDRICKS

Charles Vando Hendricks, 86, of Six Mile, died Monday, January 25, 2016 at his home.

Born in Six Mile, he was a son of George Raymond and Bertha Mae Parrott Hendricks.

He retired from Clemson University and was a member of Mt. Olivet Wesleyan Church.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Grant Hendricks of the home; daughter, Cathy Looper of Piedmont; two sons, Rev. Michael Grant Hendricks of Hobe Sound, FL, and Kevin Vando Hendricks of Central; sister, Rebecca Singleton of Easley; brother, Merle Hendricks of Pickens; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchilderen.

‘JAN’ MOORE

LIBERTY – Janice “Jan” Virginia Black Moore, 62, wife of James Daniel Moore, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at her home.

Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late J.T. and Virginia Aileen Ragsdale Black.

She was reared in the home of her sister and brother-in-law, Lou Ellen and Forman Cox.

She was formerly employed with Gerber Childrenswear and Plastic Omnia.  She was a charter member of Graceway Baptist Church in Easley.

Survivors include her husband of the home; sisters-in-laws, Pat Black of Anderson and Virginia Ragsdale of Piedmont.

She was predeceased by sister, Lou Ellen Cox and brothers, Donnie “Buck” Ragsdale and Tommy Black.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 29, 2016 at Gray Mortuary Chapel, Pelzer.  The family will receive friends following the service.

CLYDUS HICKS

PELZER – Clydus Eugene Hicks, 90, husband of the late Doris Frances Frady Hicks, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2016

Born in Logan, Ohio, he was the son of the late George Washington and Laura Culbertson Hicks. He was a U.S. Navy WWII veteran and U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force Korean veteran. He worked for Kendall Company and was a member of Eastview Baptist Church.

He is survived by sons, Gene Hicks of Murrells Inlet, Dale Hicks of Williamston, Brian Hicks and Bruce Hicks both of Pelzer; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by sisters, Clistie Dicken and Georgia Wycoff.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, January 28 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

The graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 29 at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

The family will be at the home of Bruce and Kristie Hicks, 14 Hindman St., West Pelzer.

DEAN “SCUTTER” HARVELL

Dean “Scutter” Harvell, 76, of Piedmont, husband of Joyce Raye Wynn Harvell, died Sunday, January 24, 2016 at his home.

He was son of the late Robert Hueldon Harvell and Evelyn Gosnell Harvell.

He retired from J.P. Stevens.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are daughters, Kristi Black, Kimmi Warga, and Kerri Thomas; ten grandchildren; and sister, Annelle Lide.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 28 from 4-6 p.m., at Pickens Country Club, 1018 Country Club Road, Pickens, SC 29671.
