Anderson County will host a public informational meeting on Thursday, February 11, 2016 from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Piercetown Fire Department, 5150 Highway 81 N, Williamston to inform local residents and affected persons of the upcoming temporary closure of Martin Road for road improvement construction work.

Construction has begun on the road projects associated with the expansion and relocation of Techtronic Industries Power Equipment facilities near the I-85/SC 81 Interchange. (Pictured is work currently underway at Orange Way) The county secured state and federal funding for the project in December and awarded the contract to S&S Construction of Anderson for $5,193,207.12. The project is anticipated to be completed by June 30, 2016.

Martin Road will be widened to 3-lanes and relocated to intersect with the new Ryobi Drive, which will begin at SC 81 and head west with three lanes to the Techtronic Industries Power Equipment property. Orange Way will begin at Martin Road and head west with a four-lane divided roadway, mostly along old Furman Road to the Techtronic Industries Power Equipment property.

As currently scheduled, Martin Road will be temporarily closed between SC 81 and Shackleburg Road beginning March 21st through April 30th. The signed 2-½ mile detour route will be Shackleburg Road (east of Martin Road) and SC 81 (from Shackleburg Road south to Martin Road near the I-85 ramps). Only local traffic (residential, delivery, and construction trucks) will be allowed onto Martin Road (south of Shackleburg Road) during that time.
