Anderson County Public Works Department reported the following projects underway across the county:

  “The Great Anderson County Cleanup” will be held on April 16, 2016 from 8am until noon. Staff will be recruiting volunteers to help with the event. There will be a Kick-Off party for the event on April 11, 2016 at 6:00pm. We will be handing out cleanup supplies to volunteers and discussing litter in Anderson County. Six billboards are up to advertise the event on Hwy 28 Bypass, Hwy 29 North, Clemson Blvd., Hwy 81 South, Hwy 81 North and Hwy 178. Ten thousand post cards of the event were handed out at convenience centers, volunteers and staff to invite residents to help.

·         Met with Development Standards to review plans that were submitted for new homes in a PD (Planned Development) Subdivision. Plans submitted for Prescott were not approved and will be required to be re-submitted.

·         PERMIT SUBMITTED: 17 New Single-Family Dwelling and 8 Addition-Renovation; 7 Detached Garage/Accessory Buildings; 3 Pool; 1 Renewal/Replacement; 2 Demolition; 12 for Electrical and HVAC Upgrades; 12 Commercial Including: Miracle Hill Ministries, Owens Engineered Metal Building, 20,000 sf Mini Storage Warehouse, New Entry Portal for Piedmont Chrysler Auto Sales, Industrial Maintenance & Service Addition, TTI Interior Up-Fit, Electrical for 400 Amp Meter Replacement, Electrical for Haven Of Rest Solar Panels, Piedmont Grill Hood System, Sign for Dozo Sushi & Hibachi, Powdersville Commons Sign, Electrical for 400 Amp Meter and Panels; 22 Mobile Home including: New Homes, Change of Ownership, moves from other counties, change of location, etc.

·         SITE PLAN REVIEW:

§  Spinx Refueling Center Store #153 located on Old Williamston Road/Highway 86

§  10 Applications submitted for permits for Planned Development for Rivendell/Buckland.

§  2 Applications submitted for permits for Planned Development for Prescott/Edgebrook.

§  Floodplain Development Permit located on Brushy Bluff Lane, Piedmont.

§  Floodplain Development Permit for a residential home site and a proposed detached garage located on Welcome Road

·         SUBDIVISIONS:

§  McGee Road Tract proposed 31 lot residential subdivision located on Hub and McGee Road.

§  Avendell Phase II completed

§  Property located on Cannon Bottom Road (20 acre site) possibly five (5) residential home sites

§  Equality Estates (revision of lot layout) located on Wilderness Trail, Easley

·         BUFFERYARD INSPECTIONS:

§  Garvey Dental Office located on Highway 81N (Re-inspection)

§  Carmichael Latham located on Prosperity Blvd. Piedmont.

§  Dr. Medical Office located on Highway 81 North Anderson

·         COMPLIANCE ISSUES:

§  Illegal business located on Gaffney Road.

§  Illegal signage placed on private property located on Highway 8 & Highway 88.

 

Stormwater

·         Staff participated in filming a public service announcement for the County Charter channel publicizing a 319 grant we have partnered with Upstate Forever on. Funds are available for farmers and residents in the eastern part of the county for cattle fencing and water source creation and septic system repairs.

·         Initial reviews were conducted for O’Reilly Auto Parts in Powdersville and Sandy Springs Mini-Warehouse Storage Facility near Pendleton.

·         Received initial applications for Spinx #135 in Piedmont and a poultry farm expansion, Double D Farm, off of Double Springs Road in the Townville area.

·         Major Modification for Community Bible Church Expansion was approved.

·         Received resubmittal for Highway 81- Dollar General.

Solid Waste

·         Attended Walk with the Docs in Honea path on Saturday, March 19th. Residents received literature on recycling, litter and our Adopt-A-Spot program. Several residents were very interested in the Adopt-A-Spot program. Community events give us an excellent opportunity to recruit residents to become Adopt-A-Spot members.

·         Anderson County will be having a Shred Day on June 4, 2016 at the Anderson County Sports and Entertainment Center. The event will be from 10am until 1pm.

Wastewater

·

·         Blasting on the Five Mile sewer project is scheduled to begin this week. All safety precautions and notification of nearby residents has been done.

·         The Hanna Crossing sewer project off Hwy 81 and Dunlap road is 80% complete. This sewer will discharge into existing gravity sewer on Dunlap road and will provide sewer service for future development.

·         The ROW crew cut a section of ROW off McGee Rd. near New Spring church that had never been cut. This ROW was 300 feet long, and we also repaired a manhole on the edge of the road hit by mowers.

·         Met with Trey Blackwood on Pendleton High school sewer system. Town of Pendleton approved Anderson County to provide Wastewater service for Pendleton High School and planned sports complex.

·         Set up generator at Rock-Tenn in Powdersville because of planned power outage by Duke Power to work on one of their sub stations on Sunday morning from 1 am to 3 am.
