Suspect in car shooting in custody

Brandon John Latimer, 20, of Williamston was taken into custody early Monday morning. Latimer has been implicated in a March 28, 2016 shooting incident in Anderson County. According to the arrest warrant, Latimer is accused of firing two rounds into a Ford Mustang occupied by three individuals. The incident occurred along Trail Court in Williamston about 10:45p.m., on Monday, March 28. One round struck the front-seat passenger, the second round struck the rear of the vehicle.

Following the incident, deputies were dispatched to a residence on Brooks Road in Belton where they located and administered first aid to the victim before he was transported by EMS to AnMed Hospital for treatment. His wounds were non-life threatening.

On Saturday April 9, deputies received information that Latimer was seen in an area near H. I. Taylor Road in Williamston. A Sheriff’s K-9 Tracking Team responded to the area but they were unable to locate the suspect.

Early Monday deputies located Latimer at his home on Hillcrest Drive in Williamston and took him into custody without incident. He was transported to the Anderson County Detention Center and served with an outstanding warrant for attempted murder.

A bond hearing has been scheduled for this afternoon. A specific motive for the incident has not been determined but the individuals involved are known to each other.
