Three suspects identified in Powdersville porch shooting

Following an extensive investigation into last month’s shooting incident on Sterling Bridge Road in the Powdersville area, investigators with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office have signed warrants on three suspects.

On March 28, 2016, sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence on Sterling Bridge Road in reference to an unconscious subject. The homeowner, Steven Cameron, was found deceased on the front porch of the home. Investigators determined that his death was the result of a shooting incident which occurred around 11 p.m. the previous evening. As a result of the investigation, three subjects were identified as being involved in the incident.

James Milton Gambrell, 57, of Greenville has been charged as an accessory before the fact to a violent felony and with solicitation to commit a felony. Gambrell is currently incarcerated at the Anderson County Detention Center. His bond has been set at $40,000.

Per arrest warrants, Gambrell sent two individuals to Cameron’s home and provided them with a gun and a vehicle, in order to rob the victim.

One individual, Jason Franklin Carver, 38, of Greenville has been charged with murder for his participation in the shooting. Carver is incarcerated at the Anderson County Detention Center. His bond has been denied.

Warrants have been signed on the second individual, Woodrow Walter Curry, 44, of Greenville.

At this time, Curry is being held at the Greenville County Detention Center on an unrelated drug charge. A hold has been placed on him by Anderson County. Curry will also be charged with murder; he has been identified as the shooter.
