LEWIS CORBEL DOSHER SR.

PELZER – Lewis Corbel Dosher, Sr., age 91, died Monday, April 11, 2016 at Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Community in Laurens.

Born in Virginia Beach, VA, he was a son of the late William Asa Dosher and Blanche Lee Dosher.  He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving in both World War II and Korea, reaching the senior enlisted rank of Technical Sergeant.

After his years of military service, he lived in the Ware Place community and was employed by The Greater Greenville Sanitation Department and then by Fiber Industries until retirement in 1986.  He was a member of Washington Baptist Church in Pelzer.

He is predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Jennie Vee Chapman Dosher, a brother, William Asa Dosher, Jr., and a sister, Elsie Lee Dosher Adams.

He is survived by two sons, Lewis C. Dosher, Jr. and his wife Karen of Ware Place, and Franky A. Dosher and his wife Elizabeth of Ware Place, and proud “Pa” to seven grandchildren, Sarah, Andrew, Rebekah, Joseph, Jordan and wife Lindsey, Joshua, and Jacob Dosher, and two great-grandchildren, Lila Dosher (Jordan) and Elijah Potter (Rebekah); and brother, Ellis Dosher of Steinhatchee, FL.

Service was held Monday, April 18, 2016 at Washington Baptist Church.

GARY FRICKS

Gary Harvey Fricks, 63, of Pelzer, died Sunday, April 3, 2016.

Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Charles Stephen Fricks and Anna Bell Alexander.

He is survived by sons, Phillip Brian Fricks and Gary Derrel Fricks; brother, Daniel Fricks; several grandchildren.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Burial was at Pine Lawn Cemetery.

JO ANNE SMITH FOX

Jo Anne Smith Fox, 78, of Easley, died Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at McCall Hospice House, Simpsonville.

Born in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late Fletcher Porter Smith and the late Sallie Mae Duncan Smith.

She was Broker/Owner of Barnes and Tripp Real Estate and was a member of Easley Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Cindy Fox Miller of Easley, and Libbi Fox Wigington of Piedmont; and two grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Ben Severe Fox.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 15 at Easley Presbyterian Church. Burial followed in Robinson Memorial Gardens.

NANCY ANDREWS COX

Nancy Andrews Cox, 67, of Belton, widow of James Allen Cox, died Tuesday, April 12, 2016.

Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Nina Miller.

She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Mandy Cutting of Simpsonville; two sons, Randall Ray Andrews of Belton and Anthony Andrews of Easley; four sisters, Ann Sutherland of Anderson, JoAnn Landreth of Pelzer, Lee Cibuzar of Charlotte, and Wendy Dickerson of Easley; and five grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Saturday, April 16 in the Northwest Chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home. Burial followed in Graceland Cemetery, East.

AMANDA PAGE McCARTER

Amanda Page McCarter, of Piedmont, died Tuesday, April 12, 2016.

She is survived by her daughter, Sadie Neal and Sadie’s father, Justin Neal; her parents, Manley and Judy McCarter; and sister, Charley “CJ” McCarter; grandparents, Charlie Page and Mary Jane McCarter.

A funeral service was held Friday, April 15 in the chapel of The Mackey Mortuary. Burial followed in the Garden of Memories.

GEORGE MANLEY, JR.

George Manley, Jr., 76, of Anderson, husband of Mary Chambers Manley died April 17, 2016 at his home.

Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late George Manley, Sr. and the late Gertis Webb Manley. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired as a sales representative.

He was a member of Concord Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife he is survived by sons, Gary Dale Manley and Timothy Neil Manley, both of Powdersville; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dianne Nixon of Anderson.

Funeral service was held Tuesday at Concord Baptist Church. Interment followed at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.

WAYNE BRIDGES

Kenneth Wayne Bridges, 61, of Piedmont, husband of Wendy Caudill Bridges, died Sunday, April 17, 2016 at his home.

Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Carl Marvin and Lillie Maude Wilson Bridges. He was formerly a professor at Greenville Technical College.

In addition to his wife of the home, he is survived by children, Leslie Bridges Carpenter, Ashley Bridges, Jake Bridges, all of Piedmont; five grandchildren; sister, Linda Cason of Piedmont; and brother, Glenn Bridges of Piedmont.

Funeral service was held Wednesday at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

DONNIE FOSTER

Donnie Claude Foster, 66, of Piedmont, widower of Mary Fricks Foster, died Sunday, April 17, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital.

Born in Anderson County, he was the son of Helen Waldrop Foster and the late Claude Earl Foster.

In addition to his mother of Piedmont, he is survived by son, James “Ricky” Howard of Piedmont; two grandchildren; sisters, Nora Jackson, Linda Morris, Claudette Dove, all of Piedmont.

Funeral service was held Wednesday, April 20, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

UTA MACKEY

Uta Brigitte Schink Mackey, 74, of Williamston, died Monday, April 18, 2016 at Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Kaiserslauten, Germany, she was a daughter of the late Eric and Oma Schink.  She was retired from Milliken.

Surviving are son, Robert Mackey of Anderson; daughter, Vickey Irvin of Williamston; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Krystal Schink of Germany.

LINDA WHITE

Linda Faye Dean White, 65, of Pelzer, wife of Ronald Logan White, died Sunday, April 17, 2016.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Walter Henry and Cornelia Bruce Dean. She was formerly employed with Cushman Mill and a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by sisters, Gayle Eades of Greenville, JoAnn Shaw of Williamston, Judy Brock of Pelzer and Wanda LeCroy of Belton; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held  Wednesday, April 20 at Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Burial followed at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.

BENJAMIN AMICK COMPTON HOWARD

Benjamin Amick Compton Howard, 18, of Piedmont, died on Sunday, April 17, 2016.

Born in Greenville, he was a son of Keith and Ruth Amick Howard.

He was a student at Clemson University. He was a staff member at Camp Old Indian. He was a member of St. Michael Lutheran Church.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his twin brother Daniel Howard; grandparents, Carolyn Amick of Cumberland, MD, George and Jeri Howard of Johnson City, TN.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, April 22, at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Southeast Chapel.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, April 24, at St. Michael Lutheran Church.

FLO HETRICK

Flo Hetrick, 62, of Pelzer, died Sunday, April 17, 2016.

She is survived by her husband, George Hetrick; children, Jason Glover, Kasey Kuhn, Katy Cain, and Mandy Hetrick; four grandchildren; brother, George Wright, Jr. and her mother, Kathleen Wright.

She was preceded in death by her father, George Wright, Sr.

A celebration of life service will be held Thursday, April 21 at Oak Pointe Church, 8649 Augusta Road, Pelzer, from 6 – 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Francis Cancer Center.

EDDIE JOE POSEY

Eddie Joe Posey, 87, of Greenville, husband of the late Ina S. Posey, died on Saturday, April 16, 2016.

He was the son of the late Morgan L. and Annie Mae Rigdon Posey.

He retired from The Bibb Co. and served in the National Guard. He was a member of New Vision Outreach Church in Powdersville.

He is survived by his children, Martha A. Kirkman  of Piedmont, Eddie M. Posey  of Greenville, R Danny Posey  of Greenville, and Ronnie J. Posey of Greenville; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters.

Visitation was held Wednesday at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 21 at 12:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

HAROLD A. FARR

Harold A. Farr, 70, of Greenville, SC died Monday, April 18, 2016.

Born in Piedmont, He was a son of the late Adger and Janie Farr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Hunt Farr.

He is survived by two daughters, Tammy Wallace of Chapin, and Crystal Lazar of Travelers Rest; four grandchildren; and “adopted daughters”, Maria Michalak and Mia Lagares.

A service to celebrate hislife will be held on Friday, April 22 at 12pm in the chapel of The Mackey Mortuary. Burial will follow at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the mortuary.
