The Town of Williamston Planning Commission unanimously approved a request to re-zone property located at 304 Beaverdam Road from residential to highway commercial. The recommendation from the Planning Commission will now be considered by Williamston Town Council at their May 2 meeting. No one spoke at a public hearing held before the vote.
The property is just over 28 acres and was known as the D. R. Chastain property. Plans for the property call for an 80 ft.x 150 ft.. steel warehouse building with a concrete floor which will be used for a warehouse for the Deal’s Grocery Store. A 200 ft. buffer will be on the back side of the property to separate the commercial property from residential property on Glendale Ave.
