LINDA TAYLOR

Linda Crain Taylor, 63, of Piedmont, wife of Earl Wayne Taylor, died Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at her home.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late John J. and Thelma Chasteen Crain.  She was retired from Powdersville Family Practice.

In addition to her husband of the home, she is survived by sons, Todd Taylor of Prattville, AL, Shannon Taylor of Fountain Inn, Jason Taylor of Powdersville; four grandchildren; sisters, Ann Stowe of Piedmont and Faye Carter of Liberty.

A memorial service was held Friday, April 22, in the chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

TIM ROGERS

PELZER – Don Timothy “Tim” Rogers, 54, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016.

Born in Greenville, he was a son of Don R. and Mary Ann Golden Rogers.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by son, Brandon Rogers of the home; grandchild, Kaelin Rogers.

He was predeceased by brother, John Gregory Rogers.

Visitation was from 3:00 to 4:00 pm Monday, April 25, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

The service followed at 4:00 pm in the mortuary chapel.

Burial was at Rehoboth Baptist Church Cemetery.

MELVIN NEWTON

Huntersville, NC – Clarence Melvin Newton, 80, husband of the late Martha Marie Guest Newton, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016.

Born in Ashburn, GA, he was a son of the late Jasper Clarence and Ruby Lee Smith Newton. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

He is survived by daughter, Sandy Dacus of Huntersville, NC; sister, Faye McMillan of Acworth, GA; granddaughter, Kayla Dacus.

He was predeceased by brother, Jerry Newton.

Visitation was from 1:00 to 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 26 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

A graveside service followed at 2:30 pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

UTA MACKEY

Uta Brigitte Schink Mackey, 74, of Williamston, died Monday, April 18, 2016 at Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Kaiserslauten, Germany, she was a daughter of the late Eric and Oma Schink.  She was retired from Milliken.

Surviving are son, Robert Mackey of Anderson; daughter, Vickey Irvin of Williamston; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Krystal Schink of Germany.

She was predeceased by a son, Steven T. Mackey of Williamston.

RUTH LOCKE

PIEDMONT – Ruth Elizabeth Monroe Locke, 88, wife of the late Harold Locke, passed away Friday, April 22, 2016.

Born in Piedmont, she was a daughter of the late Robert Lee and Nancy Abigail Anders Monroe. She retired from J.P. Stevens and was a member of Piedmont Church of God of Prophecy. She loved all flowers and especially loved to work in her day lilies.

She is survived by sister, Mary Jane Evatt of Belton; many nieces, nephews and cousins; favorite pastor, Rev. Barry Manley.

She was predeceased by sister, Betty Owens; brothers, Glen, Marvin and Nurell Monroe.

Visitation was from 3:00 to 4:00 pm Monday, April 25, at Piedmont Church of God of Prophecy.

The service followed at 4:00 pm in the church.

Burial was at Rose Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Piedmont Church of God of Prophecy, P.O. Box 326, Piedmont, SC 29673.

The family will be at respective homes.

LILLIE MAE KELLEY

Lillie Mae Kelley, 83, of Piedmont, died April 22, 2016.

Born in Pickens, she was the daughter of Walter Reece and Elvie Anderson Reece.

She is survived by her husband, Albert J. Kelley; daughter, Patricia Durham Rogers; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Triune Mercy Center, P.O. Box 3844 Greenville, SC 29608.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 26 at Calvary Baptist Church, Simpsonville. Burial followed at Graceland East.

ELIZABETH C. RICE

Elizabeth C. Rice, 86, of Piedmont, widow of G.P. Rice, died Thursday, April 21, 2016.

Born in Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late George and Alma Alverson Childress.

She was retired from Union Carbide and was a member of Reedy Fork Baptist Church.

Surviving are sons, Douglas Rice and Robert Rice, both of Piedmont; and two grandchildren.

A graveside service was held Monday at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

KENNETH WAYNE STOGNER

Kenneth Wayne Stogner, of Charlotte, NC, husband of Marsha Stogner, died Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Carolina Medical Hospital.

He was the son of the late Carl H. and Mozelle R. Stogner.

In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, Scott Stogner (Julie) and one granddaughter, Emma Stogner; by one sister, Ruby Sutton (Travis) of Williamston, SC; two brothers, Wilton Stogner of Hawaii and Harold Stogner (Jackie) of Salisbury; two stepdaughters, Angel McClure (Marc) and Nikki Blackburn; also five grandchildren.

Ken was the owner of Stogner Home Improvements. He loved building and remodeling in Charlotte for many years. He loved riding his Harley and being at the lake on his pontoon. Ken had a band for many years called “The Boardwalk Band.”

Ken was a much loved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend.

‘TOMMY’ TARLETON

BELTON – Thomas Ray “Tommy” Tarleton, 74, husband of Kathy Childress Tarleton, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2016.

Born in Mobile, AL, he was a son of the late Willie Ray Tarleton and Opal Worthy Kotlowski. He was retired from General Electric.

In addition to his wife of the home, he is survived by daughters, Tonya Tarleton Owens of Fountain Inn, Tammy Tarleton Crompton of Belton; sons, Thomas Earl Tarleton and Kenneth D. Tarleton, both of Williamston; brothers, John Andrew and Richard Allen Kotlowski, both of Aniston, AL, Donald Wayne Kotlowski of Williamston; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 29, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.  The service will follow in the mortuary chapel.  Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial, Anderson.

The family is at the home of Earl Tarleton, 479 Ballard Rd., Williamston.

LARRY CAMPBELL

Larry Campbell, 73, of Honea Path, husband of Mary Sue Cason Campbell, died Monday, April 25, 2016 at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.

Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late Richard and Eva Mae Campbell. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church and was retired from Milliken of Laurens.

Siurvivng are his wife of the home; son, Larry Timothy Campbell of Honea Path; three brothers, Tommy Lee and Jim Buddy Campbell, both of Williamston, and Michael Campbell of Belton; and a sister, Janice Darlene Grant of Honea Path.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 28 at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories.

CARLIE RAY BAKER

Carlie Ray Baker, 68, of Piedmont, died on April 20, 2016 in St. Francis Hospital in Greenville.

He is survived by a brother, Jerry Baker; stepdaughter, Penny Hardy; stepsons, Ronnie and Donnie Wallace, and Randy Whitt.

He was predeceased by his wife, Ruth Whitt Baker and mother, Katie Johnson.

A memorial service will be held at Rehoboth Baptist Church, Piedmont on Saturday, April 30 at 3 p.m.
