Anderson County Public Works Department reported the following projects underway:

Building and Codes

·         PERMITS SUBMITTED: 15 New Single-Family Dwelling and 6 Addition-Renovation; 6 Detached Garage/Accessory Buildings; 3 Pool; 1 Replacement; 6 Demolition; 16 Electrical and HVAC Upgrades; 10 Commercial Including: Taste Buds Up-Fit, Good Spirits Package Store, Humana PIPC renovation in Powdersville, Humana PIPC renovation in Anderson, VA Pharmacy Up-Fit, 2 Electrical for Charter Communication, Dollar General Sign, Electrical for Michelin Sign, Electrical for Meter Can Replacement on Existing Business; 10 Mobile Home including: New Homes, Change of Ownership, moves from other counties, change of location, etc.

·         DRAWINGS SUBMITTED:  Brookstone Meadows Club House Remodel, Holiday Inn Express & Suites located off Hwy 153, Jeffries Personal Storage Metal Building located off Hobson Road, Oak Point Office Electrical Upgrade located of Clemson Blvd, TTI Guardhouse and various resubmittals

Development Standards

·         Citizens Advisory Committee for District 3 & 4 approved the following request at their meeting held Wednesday night at 6:30PM.  Request was approved by a unanimous vote and there was no opposition.

·         Belton Honea Path High School Football Practice Field Addition

·         1000 Tuscany Drive, Anderson, reduction of front yard setbacks for the construction of a single-family home.

·         SITE PLAN REVIEW:

§  Williamston Wal-Mart-Project moving forward (review of site plan with new revisions.)

§  Waves Car Wash located in Powdersville

§  Exotic Products-ATF request for owner to obtain land use permit for property located at True Temper Road for ammunition sale.

·         LAND USE PERMITS APPROVED:

§  Brookstone Meadows Golf Course Improvements located on River Club Drive.

§  New Southern BBQ Restaurant located at 926 Pelzer Highway, Easley

·         GRADING PERMITS ISSUED:

Storm Water

·         A cease and desist notice was issued to a site on Shackleburg Road due to land disturbing activity without a permit. No sediment and erosion controls were in place and a creek on-site was impacted.

·         A follow-up inspection at Project Machine resulted in another Notice of Violation being issued. Intense storms last weekend caused slope failures with impacts to waterbodies on-site.

·         Review conducted and an application for NPDES coverage was made for Brookstone Meadows Golf Course.

·         Received new application for Industrial Warehouse Services.

·         Approval issued and pre-con held for James Lake Subdivision.

·         Review was conducted for Robert Bosch, LLC – An-101 Gas/Chemical Storage Pad.

Solid Waste

·         “The Great Anderson County Cleanup” was a huge success for volunteer, staff and the Detention Center. We want to thank everyone who participated in the event during the month of April 2016. We had 527 volunteers for the event. We picked up 1,843 bags of litter and 463 tires.

·         Anderson County will be having a Shred Day on June 4, 2016 at the Anderson County Sports and Entertainment Center. The event will be from 10am until 1pm.

·         Working to repair electrical issues with conveyor belt system at the Anderson Regional MRF.

·         Delivered a 40-yard container to the Parker Bowie Complex this week for the annual Crescent Rodeo.

·         April Stats:

o   557.61 Recyclable tons, 36.7 E-Waste tons, 38.51 Tire tonnage and 1,865 Gallons Waste Oil.

o   Anderson Regional Landfill: 5,812.70 tons of municipal Solid Waste at a cost of $171,590.90.

o   Hauling contractor hauled 615 containers from Convenience Centers at a cost of $71,955.00.

o   Starr Landfill Tonnages:

§  Construction & Demolition (1,283.48 C&D) tons {11,499.45 YTD tons}.

§  Land Clearing Debris (1,890.63 LCD) tons {14,565.54 YTD tons}.

§  26,064.99 Total Tons for the Year

·         April Stats: 182 Calls, 43 Warnings, 3 Assisting Another Agency, 14 Clean-Up Orders, 0 Clean-Up Order Citations, 5 Unlawful Dumping, 3 Litter Citations, 3 Uncovered Loads and 3 State Citations. Total Fines requested $7,231.25.

Wastewater

·         The Town of Iva owes Anderson County $545,542.93. Two payments were received on March 30, 2016 – $15,000 and March 31, 2016 – $5,000. 

·         Assisted developer with encroachment permit for sewer service on Evergreen Road.

·         Looked at preliminary routing for potential sewer lines in the Powdersville area.

·         Performed 9 residential sewer tap inspections this week: 2 in Pheasant Ridge, 1 in Palmetto Valley, 2 in Three Bridges Club, 3 in Benton Park and 1 in Cravens Creek.

·         Locate crew checked all sewer marks in the Rivendell Subdivision this week. Contractors are boring and installing fiber optic cable throughout the entire subdivision.

·         ROW crew cut the Martin & Martin property in Piedmont with our Bobcat, after they prepared a way for us to get to the ROW with their equipment.

·         Data was downloaded for the 2 flow monitors at Stonehaven Subdivision; we also cleaned a manhole where our flow monitor is installed. The sensor on the monitor was collecting debris and would cause future blockage problems.
