The Seventh Annual Saluda River Rally is set for this weekend, June 4th and 5th at the Dolly Cooper Sports Complex in Powdersville. The two-day event is free and will feature a series of paddle trips for kayaks, canoes and tubes, as well as bluegrass music, outdoor exhibits and food vendors. Camping is also available for the event.
Saturday, June 4 events are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday’s is set from 1 – 4 p.m. Sunday’s Rally Wrap Up event will also include a free BBQ supper at the Saluda River Grill from 4-7 p.m.
A limited number of campsites will be available at the park Friday and Saturday night of the Rally for those who want to enjoy the whole weekend. Campsites will be available on a first come/first served basis. Contact: Anderson County Parks at 864-231-7275 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Saturday events from 9 am to 5 pm will include revolving paddle trips:
SC Kayak Fishing Club – 2.5 miles – approximately 1 hour by kayak or 2 hours by tube.
Saluda River Rafting – 6.5 miles – approximately 2.5 hours by kayak – no tubes.
You must have your own boat for the 6.5 mile paddle
Grady’s Great Outdoors & Sunrift Adventures will have kayaks available for free use during Saturday’s event Saluda River Rafting will provide tubes and rafts for free use during the event Saturday.
All participants are required to park at and sign in at Dolly Cooper Park.
On Sunday beginning at 1 pm there will be a single-launch paddle trip from Dolly Cooper Park to 117 Piedmont Hwy. (SC-20) in the town of Piedmont (future site of Greenville County access) – 9 miles, approx. 3 hours.
Participants can bring your own craft. Limited kayaks will be available for rent by Anderson County. Tubes will not be allowed.
Free shuttles will be available for participants who want to take their vehicle to the take out site prior to launch.
Sunday-Rally Wrap-Up will be from 4 pm to 7 pm with free barbecue provided by Saluda River Grill, 1 Main St. Piedmont
Special Olympic Athletes will be servers.
