‘TOM’ MAJOR, ‘JOE’ GENELONI, JERRY RHODES, ELLIE SIMPSON, VIRGINIA THOMAS MINYARD, GEORGE H. BOUCHER

‘TOM’ MAJOR

PELZER – Thomas Louis “Tom” Major, 70, passed away June 1, 2016 at his home.

Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late Kelley Guyton and Martha Celestine Jordan Major. He was retired from Greenville County Waste ReWa and a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran and a Tet Offensive survivor with the 116th Attack Helicopter Company.  He was a member of the Pelzer United Methodist Church, the NRA and was a gunsmith.

Survivors include daughter, Devery Major; sisters, Judy Thompson (Randolph) and Becky Manley; grandchildren, Adam Autry, Jordan Duvall, Hugh Campbell; great-grandchild, Waylon Morgan; nieces, Deborah Thompson and Stephanie Camputaro; nephew, Chris Manley; extended family, J.D. Crow, Kyle and Tonya Wilson and Todd Stone.

A graveside service was held 1 p.m.  Monday, June 6, at Pine Lawn Cemetery.

Flowers were accepted or memorials may be made to the Greenville County Cancer Society, 113 Mills Ave, Greenville, SC 29605.

The family members are at their respective homes.

‘JOE’ GENELONI

PELZER – Joseph “Joe” Augustine Geneloni, Jr., husband of Janet Perkins Geneloni, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2016.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was a son of the late Joseph Augustine Geneloni, Sr. and Clara Houser Geneloni Walicki. He was a U.S. Marine veteran.

In addition to his wife and best friend of the home, he is survived by children, Christine Jackman (Cecil) of Clewiston, FL, Jimmy Cain (Susan) of Piedmont, Donald Cain (Frances) of Townville, Joseph A. Geneloni, III (Brenda) of Pelzer, Angeline Geneloni of Gilbert, AZ; and step-son, Juan Rodriguez (Sandra); step-brothers, Florian Walicki, Jr.(Jan) of Denver, CO, Robert Walicki (Barbara) of Gig Harbor, WA, and John Walicki (Angela) of Seattle, WA; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and dearest friends, cousins, Patty Natali (Dave) and Barbara Marese, and brother-in-law, Victor Baylis, Sr. (Linda).

He was predeceased by brother, Bill Wilder (Ruth) and step-sister, Wanda Lee.

A memorial service was held at 4:00 pm Monday, June 6, at New Hope Baptist Church in Pelzer, SC with military honors.

JERRY RHODES

Jerry Ray Rhodes, 67, of Mauldin, husband of the late Barbara Ann Tumblin Rhodes, died Thursday, June 2, 2016.

Born in Woodruff, he was a son of the late Ray and Thelma Louise Parker Rhodes. He was a member of Cedar Shoals Baptist Church in Belton and formerly employed with F.W. Woolworth and Grainger.

He is survived by daughter, Ashley Davis of the home; sisters, Wanda Harkins Ballew of Simpsonville and Melinda Harkins Kennedy of Woodruff; brother, James “Jim” Evans Rhodes of Easley; and three grandchildren, Olivia-Rae, Parker and Kaylee Davis of the home.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, June 4, at Cedar Shoals Baptist Church with visitation following the service.

ELLIE SIMPSON

Ellie Lou Bagwell Simpson, 93, of Honea Path, widow of William Haynie ‘Bill’ Simpson, died June 5, 2016 at Heardmont Nursing Home in Elberton, GA.

Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Jodie Bagwell and Minnie Stone Bagwell Bradshaw. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and worked for Riegel and Chiquola Mills.

She is survived by three sons, Tommy Simpson of the home, Harold Simpson of Honea Path, and Jimmy Simpson of Anderson; two daughters, Martha Duncan of Pelzer, and Joyce S. Stone of Anderson; one half-sister, Mary Jordon of Abbeville; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held June 7 at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at the Garden of Memories.

VIRGINIA THOMAS MINYARD

Virginia Thomas Minyard, 80, of Waterloo, wife of James Talmadge Minyard, died Sunday, June 5, 2016.

Born in Laurens, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Mildred Clark Thomas.

She was a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church and was retired from Insignia.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Michael L. Minyard of Simpsonville, and Tommy N. Minyard of Charleston; daughter, Tammy M. Davis of Piedmont; two grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brother, John H. Thomas; and two sisters, Mary Keenan and Joyce Dawes.

Funeral service was held Wednesday in the Southeast Chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home. Burial followed in Graceland East Memorial Park.

GEORGE H. BOUCHER

George Hinton Boucher, 103, of Rock Hill, died June 3, 2016.

Born in Charleston, he was a son of the late Solomon Kury Basha and Elizabeth Hinton Hoff Basha.

He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was a member of Citadel Square Baptist Church in Charleston.

Surviving are his daughter, Beverly Boucher Smith of Rock Hill; sons, Carter Boucher of Williamston, and Walter Boucher of Anderson; and two grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Annie Laurie Keaton Boucher.

Graveside service with full military honors will be held at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 3 p.m. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Thursday prior to the service from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.
