GAIL MARIE KIMBROUGH PHILLIPS

WILLIAMSTON –  Gail Marie Kimbrough Phillips, 66, of 110 Gossett St. died Saturday, June 25, 2016 at AnMed Health Medical Center.

Born in Columbus, GA, she was the daughter of the late Joe William and Willie Compton Kimbrough.

She was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church and lifetime member of VFW of Cataula, GA.

Surviving is her sister, Barbara Gregory and husband Zachary of Belton. She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. Service was held 2pm Tuesday at Cedar Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Billy Dickerson and Zachary Gregory officiating.

Burial followed at church cemetery. The family received friends prior to the service Tuesday from 12pm until 1:45pm at Cedar Grove Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cedar Grove Baptist Church Building Fund. The family will be at the home of Barbara Gregory. Cox Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

SHIRLEY ELROD

PIEDMONT – Shirley Ann Kay Elrod, 71, wife of Robert I. Elrod, Jr., passed away Saturday, June 25, 2016.

Born in Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late Hershel W. and Mozelle Beck Kay.  She was retired from the Piedmont Library and a member of the First Baptist Church of Piedmont and the Gideons Auxiliary.

In addition to her husband of the home, she is survived by daughter, Lisa Elrod Garrison (Jeff) of Piedmont; son, Brian L. Elrod of Piedmont; grandchildren, Jacob C. and Anna Cate Garrison of Piedmont.

She was predeceased by a brother, Walter L. Kay.

Visitation was from 6:30 -8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. The funeral service was at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, in the mortuary chapel with burial at Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Piedmont, 8 First Baptist Church Rd., Piedmont, SC 29673 or to Gideons International, P.O. Box 141, Piedmont, SC 29673.

MARY COLE BULLOCK

Mary Cole Bullock, 77, of Martin, GA, died Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Stephens County Hospital.

Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Moss Robert Cole and the late Edna Grace Lackey Cole.

She was a beautician and owned her own salon. She was a member of Iva Pentecostal Holiness Church.

She is survived by her children, Julius Oneal “Neal” Aldrich of Lavonia, GA, Charles Robert “Bobby” Aldrich of Martin, GA, Enoch Dexter “Dickie” Aldrich, of Lavonia, GA, and Millie Jane Piggot, of Sumter; two brothers, Stanley Cole of Belton, and Sidney Cole of Pelzer; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Julius Oneal Aldrich, and her second husband, Joseph Vernon Bullock.

JEAN C. WHITING

Jean C. Whiting, of Simpsonville, died Tuesday, June 21, 2016.

She was born in Piedmont to the late Julia Brown and Dennis L. Chappelear. She was a member of Laurel Baptist Church, Greenville. She worked for St. Francis Hospital.

She is survived by son, Randy Whiting of Simpsonville; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Bill Chappelear of Spartanburg; sisters, Margaret Turpin of Macon, MO, and Ann Ellis of Spartanburg.

Graveside service was held Friday, June 24 at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

GAYNELLE KENNEDY

Lois Gaynelle Sanders Kennedy, 73, of Piedmont, died Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at her home.

She was a daughter of the late John Felix and Lois Bailey Sanders.

She was a member of Agape Baptist Church.

Surviving are sister, Maggie Czerwinski; brother, Jim Sanders; daughters, Beth Davis and Darnelle Jordan; sons, Kenny Mobley, Tommy Fowler, Terry Mobley, and Derrick Jordan; ten grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Saturday at Agape Baptist Church. Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

PATRICIA A. PETERSON IRBY

Patricia A. Peterson Irby, 70, of Piedmont, died Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Greenville Health System.

Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late William Joe and Thelma Leatherwood Peterson.

Surviving are her husband, John L. Irby; sons, Gregory Fitzgerald Peterson of Greer and James A. White of Columbia; sisters, Sandra Peterson of Mauldin, Judy Williams of Greenville, and Brenda Williams of Easley; brothers, Ronald Peterson of Piedmont, Dennis Peterson of Greenville, and Tony Peterson of Anderson; and three grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Monday, June 27 at Disciple Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, Greenville. Burial followed in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

FRANCES LINDLEY

Frances Oliver Lindley, 83, of Chesnee, died on June 25, 2016.  She was  predeceased by her husband, Robert Sydney Lindley.

She was born in Boiling Springs, the daughter of the late James H. Oliver and Edna Cantrell Oliver.  She owned and operated Lindley Day Care in Greenville.  She was a member of Washington Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Phillips;  and one grandson.

Funeral service was held on Sunday, June 26, at Washington Baptist Church.  Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

GRACE BEEKS COLE

Grace Beeks Cole, 93, of Greenville, wife of the late Lindsey Dalvin Cole, Jr., died Thursday, June 23, 2016.

Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late Luther Broadus and Annie Hall Beeks.

She retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad.

She is survived by daughter, Grace Elizabeth “Sissy” Cole; son, Lindsey Dalvin Cole, III; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and sister, Jean Beeks Hudson.

Funeral service was held Saturday in the downtown chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home. Burial followed in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
