Filing opens for non-partisan offices

The Board of Voter Registration and Elections Office for Anderson County is now accepting candidate filing through Aug. 15 for nonpartisan offices to be elected in the November 8, 2016 General Election.

Among offices that are coming open are: Anderson County Board of Education, Anderson School Trustees Districts 1-5, Homeland Park Water District Commissioners, Piedmont Public Service District Commissioners, and Watershed Conservation Districts Commissioners. There are no filing fees for these offices.

Each candidate at the time of filing must fill out the Statement of Intention of Candidacy. Candidates will be given a candidate packet that contains important information regarding filing forms online with the State Ethics Commission.

The deadline for filing is August 15 at 12:00 noon. The Voter Registration and Elections office is located at 301 N. Main Street. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information call 864-260-4035.

Filing for the County Board Of Education

Seats to fill include: Districts 2, 7, 8, 9

Filing for School Trustees

Seats to fill include:

School District 1 Areas 2, 3, 6

School District 2 Area 2 (2 seats to fill)

School District 3 Areas 2, 3

School District 4 Areas 1, 3

School District 5 Areas 1, 3, 4, 7, and At-large

Filing for Homeland Park Water & Sewer District Commissioner:

2 Seats to fill.

Piedmont Public Service District Commissioner:

2 Seats to fill.

 

Watershed Conservation District Commissioners: for watershed districts located solely within Anderson County candidates will file in the Anderson County Registration & Elections office.

Big Creek Watershed, 2 seats

Broadmouth Creek Watershed, 3 seats

Watershed Conservation District Commissioners: Multi-County will file with the State Election Commission in Columbia.

Brushy Creek, 2 seats

Three & Twenty, 3 seats
