EVELYN JAMES BULLOCK, FRANKIE BRIDGES, FAY RHODES, MICKEL LEE THURSTON, “RONNY” DEAN, JACK EATON, LOUISE PRESSLEY

EVELYN JAMES BULLOCK

Evelyn James Bullock, “Granny Bull”, 98, of Piedmont, died Wednesday, July 27, 2016.

Born in Spartanburg County, she was a daughter of the late John Cromer James and Elizabeth Brockman James.

She was retired from Union Carbide and was a member of Reedy Fork Baptist Church.

Surviving are a son, Joe Cromer DeShields; daughter, Nancy B. Brown; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Joe Willis DeShields; and her second husband, Robert M. Bullock.

Funeral service was held Friday, July 29 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home Southeast Chapel. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

FRANKIE BRIDGES

Frankie Jo Crawford Bridges, 68, of Belton, wife of Jerald W. Bridges, died Thursday, July 28, 2016.

Born in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late Joe and Lillie Mae Ellison Crawford.  She was retired from Electrolux.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by children, Scott Fagan of Williamston, Stacy Fagan Sellers, Laurie Bridges Todd, Brannon Bridges all of Anderson; sisters, Lucille Robinson, Eunice Fields, Jean Martin, all of Belton; and eight grandchildren.

A graveside service was held Saturday, July 30, at Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Belton.

FAY RHODES

Lydia Fay Burgess Rhodes, 72, of Pelzer, wife of Douglas Rufus Rhodes, Jr., died Saturday, July 30, 2016.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence R. and Eva Gertrude Roberson Burgess. She retired from Digital Equipment Company and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughter, Cindy Rhodes Kirkpatrick of Powdersville; son, Douglas Reid Rhodes of Anderson; sisters, Elizabeth “Lib” Eaton of Pelzer, Sue B. Campbell of Williamston; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, August 2, in the old sanctuary of New Hope Baptist Church.

MICKEL LEE THURSTON

Mickel “Mike” Lee Thurston, 66, of Pelzer, passed away July 27, 2016 at Hospice of the Upstate in Anderson.

Born in Greenville County, he was the son of Mary Thurston and the late Frank Thurston.

He is survived by his daughter Heather Davis (Jason) and grandchildren Robbie and Holly Davis of Piedmont; brothers, Ray Thurston, Carroll Thurston (Debbie), Rich Thurston (Brenda); sisters, Diane Mitchell, Debbie Freeland (Jerry), Annette Epps (Stan), Nancy Baptista, Kathy Ebright and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Doug Thurston and Steele Thurston.

A private memorial was held on July 31, 2016.

“RONNY” DEAN

PIEDMONT – Herman Ronald “Ronny” Dean, 73, husband of Virginia Agee Dean, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2016 at McCall Hospice House. Ron was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Born in Pelzer, he was a son of the late Frank Harrison and Minnie Jane Martin Dean. He was owner/operator of Dean’s Alternator and Starter, Inc. Ronny was a member of Washington Baptist Church, member and past Master of Fork Shoals Masonic Lodge and a U.S. Navy veteran. Ron was a well-respected business man in the community. He was always compassionate about encouraging others and never failed to assist in meeting the needs of his family, friends, and customers.

In addition to his wife of the home, he is survived by daughter, Renée Dean McCall (John Mark) of Pelzer; son, Ronald Craig Dean of Pelzer; grandchildren, Lauren Virginia McCall, Carla Jane McCall, John Griffin McCall and Kevin Hunter Dean; sisters, Gwendolyn Dean Ragnone (Norman) of Portland, OR and Elaine Dean Moon (George L.) of Pelzer; sister-in-law, Thelma Dean of Ft. Myers, FL; and a number of loving nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Henry Milton Agee (Pat) of Honea Path, John Agee (Mary) of Round-O, SC.

He was predeceased by brother, Melvin Vernon “Joe” Dean; sister, Virginia Dean Cox (Dan); daughter-in-law, Karen Sears Dean; granddaughter, Mary Kayla Dean; brother-in-law, James Edward Agee.

Visitation was held from 4 – 6 p.m. Wednesday, August 3, at Washington Baptist Church Sanctuary with the funeral service to follow at 6 p.m. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 4, at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

JACK EATON

Jack Michael Eaton, 63, of Pelzer, died Sunday, July 31, 2016.

Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late Henry and Ruth Dickson Eaton. He was formerly employed with Hilton Displays and a U.S. Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his son, Kyle Eaton of Pelzer.

The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, August 4, in the Chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

LOUISE PRESSLEY

The Unity Mortuary of Williamston announces service for Louise Pressley was held Wednesday, August 3 at New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church, Williamston.

Interment followed in the church cemetery.
