A two county chase ended just off Highway 81 early Thursday morning in Piercetown. South Carolina Highway Patrol Troopers said three people were arrested after leading them on a chase through Pickens County and into Anderson County. Troopers said they attempted to stop a Dodge sedan on Highway 93 around 1 a.m. on suspicion of DUI. The driver didn’t stop and led the pursuing trooper on a chase, which ended when the Dodge ran off the road into a ditch along Martin Road near Ryobi Road.

According to reports, three people were in the car, along with drugs and a gun. No one was hurt. The driver, Richard Edgar Thompson, 28, was charged with driving under the influence, driving under suspension, failure to stop for blue lights, possession of meth with intent to distribute, simple possession of marijuana, and illegal possession of a firearm.

Two passengers, Misty Cole, 25, and Wade Watkins, 37, were also arrested and charged with simple possession of marijuana, troopers said. All three suspects were booked into the Pickens County Detention Center. (Photo by David Rogers)
