‘JIMMY’ DAVIS, FRANKLIN DELANO RIDDLE, SANDRA ROE, REV. DR. GERZIE BURNADETTE LOUISE KNOX PORTER, ALLEN MORRIS, LOUISE AIKEN, OLLIE MAE MCCUEN, ‘JOHN’ MCNEELY, ROLAND ZIEGLER, DON MAHAFFEY, ‘MACK’ HARRIS

‘JIMMY’ DAVIS

James Leroy “Jimmy” Davis, 69, of Williamston, widower of Gloria Jean Higgins Davis, died Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at his home.

Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late Jesse and Florence Geneva Burrell Davis.  He was retired from Bell South and AT&T, a member of Whitefield Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include daughter, Jennifer Davis Lollis of Williamston; son, Jeffrey James Davis of Fair Play; sisters, Martha Meeks of Pelzer, Carolyn Meaders of Piedmont, Brenda Moore of Raleigh, NC, Mary Ayers of Pensacola, FL; and eight grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC 29621.

FRANKLIN DELANO RIDDLE

Franklin Delano Riddle, 79, of Greer, died Monday, August 8, 2016.

Born in Abbeville, he was the son of the late David Allen and Cora Lee Craine Riddle.

Surviving are daughters, Susan Long of Taylors and Angela Briggs of Rosman, NC; sons, John Bryan Riddle of Simpsonville, Micheal Riddle of Powdersville, and David Riddle of Trussville, AL; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruby Page of Greenville, Diane Riddle of Belton; brothers, Vernon Riddle of Orlando, FL, Harold Riddle and Jimmy Riddle, both of Greenville, and Danny Riddle of Marietta.

Funeral service was held Saturday, August 13 in the Downtown Chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home. Burial followed in Graceland Cemetery, West.

SANDRA ROE

Sandra Elaine Cooley Roe, 71, wife of the late Claude Newton Roe, died Wednesday, August 10, 2016.

Born in Honea Path she was a daughter of the late J.C. and Dorothy Cothran Cooley.

She was formerly employed with G.N.C. and was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church.

She is survived by son, Barry Roe of Anderson; daughter, Karen Cantrell of Spartanburg; sisters, Brenda Davis of Honea Path and Amy Gambrell of Simpsonville; brother, Gerald “Dick” Cooley of Honea Path; and four grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Saturday, August 13 in the chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

REV. DR. GERZIE BURNADETTE LOUISE KNOX PORTER

Rev. Dr. Gerzie Burnadette Louise Knox Porter, Chaplain Retired, formerly of Piedmont, died Sunday, August 7, 2016.

She was predeceased by her husband, David.

She is survived by her mother, Alma Irene Smith of Piedmont; two brothers, John M. Smith of Piedmont and David L. Davis of Greenville; four sisters, Shirley A. Thomas, Ora L. Donald, Carolyn F. Parks of Greenville, and Claudia B. Smith of Piedmont; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Saturday, August 13 at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

ALLEN MORRIS

Jeffrey Allen Morris, 44, of Piedmont, died Tuesday, August 9, 2016.

Born in Anderson, he was a son of Linda Foster Morris and the late Roger Morris. He was an electrician and a member of Mt. Springs Baptist Church.

In addition to his mother of the home, he is survived by a son, Chandler Morris of Simpsonville; grandmother, Helen Foster of Piedmont; brothers, Chris and Joe Morris, both of Piedmont; and sister, Michelle Morris of Piedmont.

A memorial service was held Saturday, August 13 at Mt. Springs Baptist Church.

LOUISE AIKEN

WILLIAMSTON – Louise C. Fischer Aiken, 89, widow of Wyatt Aiken, died Monday, August 15, 2016.

Born in Scranton, PA, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Helene Bishop Fischer.  She was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include daughter, Lori Aiken Phillips (Charles “Gar”) of Williamston; step-daughters, Linda Gibson of West Union and Joan Thompson of Raeford, NC; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 19, at Gray Mortuary Chapel, Pelzer.

OLLIE MAE MCCUEN

Ollie Mae Pulley McCuen, 85, of Pelzer, widow of Clyde R. McCuen, died Tuesday, August 16, 2016.

Born in Laurens, she was a daughter of the late Leck and Virginia Davis Pulley. She was retired from the Kendall Company.

Survivors include two grandchildren.

A graveside service was held  Wednesday, August 17, at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

‘JOHN’ MCNEELY

Johnnie Aden (John) McNeely, Sr., 92, of Pelzer, died on Friday, August 12, 2016. Born in Powdersville, he was the son of David Dewitt McNeely, Sr. and Sadie Azalene Johnson McNeely.

He is survived by his spouse, Barbara McNeely; son, Johnnie Aden McNeely, Jr.; daughters, Renita M. Owens of Piedmont; Rebecca J. Robinson of Springfield, MO; Jonni Cheryl Bryson of Simpsonville; Donna M. Hammontree of Savannah, GA; and Virginia Chaney-Geib of Pelzer; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was the founder of John A. McNeely, Public Accountant in 1959, now Renita M. Owens, CPA, LLC.

He was a World War II veteran.

Funeral service was held Monday, August 15, at Washington Baptist Church

ROLAND ZIEGLER

PELZER – Roland Kenneth Ziegler, 82, husband of 62 years to Eleanor Ferrin Ziegler, died Friday, August 12, 2016.

Born in Woxall, PA, he was a son of the late Earl and Clara Ziegler.  He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of Washington Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Sharon Williams of TX; brother, Edwin L. Ziegler and sister, Janice Ahner (Harry), all of Slatington, PA; two grandchildren.

He was predeceased by brother, Burton Ziegler and sister, Phyllis Muthard.

A memorial service was held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 15, at Washington Baptist Church.

DON MAHAFFEY

WILLIAMSTON – Don Randolph Mahaffey, 84, widower of Betty Ann Davenport Mahaffey, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2016.

Born in Mauldin, he was the son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Emma Sue King Mahaffey.  He was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills, a member and deacon at Big Creek Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include sisters, Martha Sexton and Mary Davis (Haynie), of Belton; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was from 10 – 11a.m. Tuesday, August 16, at Big Creek Baptist Church with services following at 11 a.m. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Flowers were accepted or memorials may be made to Big Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 187, Williamston, SC 29697.

The family members are at their respective homes.

‘MACK’ HARRIS

WILLIAMSTON – William McGee “Mack” Harris, Jr., 89, widower of Dorothy “Dot” Stone Harris, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2016.

Born in Pelzer, he was a son of the late William McGee “Mack” Harris, Sr. and Anna Boiter Harris. He was retired from Oconee Nuclear Station, a member of Big Creek Baptist Church and a U.S. Navy WWII veteran.

Survivors include son, Charles Michael “Bo” Harris (Karen) of Williamston; grandson, Michael R. Harris (Melanie); great-granddaughter, Emily Hope Harris; brother, Tim B. Harris of Jefferson, GA; special friend, Ruth Caldwell of Belton.

He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph R. “Bob” Harris.

The family members are at their respective homes.

Visitation was held from 1:30 -3:00 p.m. Monday, August 15, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

The funeral service followed at 3:00 p.m. in the mortuary chapel.  Burial was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.
