Dealing with the Mentally Ill

The Williamston Police Department is hosting two free training sessions on “Dealing with the Mentally Ill” September 27 and 28 at the Anderson Districts I & II. Career and Technology Center, 702 Belton Highway. Williamston. The training sessions will begin at 8:30 AM and end at 12:30 PM in the Multi-Purpose Room. Refreshments will be provided. The same class will repeat each day to give more first responders the opportunity to attend.

The training programs are designed to educate and prepare first responders who come into contact with people with severe mental illnesses to recognize the signs and symptoms of these illnesses, and to respond effectively and appropriately to people who are experiencing a psychiatric crisis.

This training will provide first responders with the skills to make a safer intervention for themselves, for the consumer in crisis, for the consumer’s family and for the community.

To register for the class please provide your name and agency in an email to kmarsee@trainingspecialist.org
