Local drivers shold be aware that another gas shortage similar to the one experienced in September may be looming. The same stretch of pipeline in Alabama that was breached in September causing the first problems, was breached again and caught fire Monday after crews hit the line with a backhoe causing gasoline to ignite.
Colonial Pipeline, owners of the pipe, have shut down its two main lines which supply gasoline and other petroleum products to Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina. AAA Carolina officials said the shutdown will have an impact on gas prices.
