EDWIN ROBERSON

WILLIAMSTON—Edwin Lane Roberson, 50, husband of Cherie Young Roberson, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2016.

Born in Charleston, he was the son of the late Joe Edwin and Betty Burns Roberson. He was owner and operator of Ed’s Curb Appeal Lawn Care.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Brett (Alysia) of Williamston, Hayden of the home; and granddaughter, Quinn Roberson.

Visitation will be held Friday, December 16, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 in the mortuary chapel.

HANSEL E. ‘HANK’ SELLERS

Hansel E. “Hank” Sellers, 80, of Belton, husband of Annette Strickland, died Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Oscar M. and Eula Mae Cole Sellers.

He was a retired truck driver from Amerada Hess, was a U.S. Army Veteran and was a member of Belton Second Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Jason H. Sellers of Williamston; daughter, Candy Gambrell of Belton; brothers, David Sellers of Honea Path, Dan Sellers of Anderson, Bill Sellers of Belton; sisters, Cathy S. Lindsey of Honea Path, and Tammy Madden of Belton; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday at Cox Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial followed in Garden of Memories.

JESSIE T. NORRIS

Jessie Mary Turner Norris, 92, of Piedmont, died Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Southern Oaks Health and Rehab in Piedmont.

Born in Yonkers, NY, she was the daughter of the late Jesse J. Turner and the late Anne Weber Turner.

She was widow of the late Samuel E. Norris, Jr.

Surviving are three sons, Samuel E. Norris III of Easley, John G. Norris of Columbia, and James “Tony” Norris of Piedmont; two daughters, Annette N. Cowan of Yacolt, WA, Rosemary E. Cameron of Charlotte, NC; sister, Elizabeth “Elsie” Holcombe of Anderson; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral service was held Thursday, Dec. 8 in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home. Interment followed at New Silver Brook Cemetery.

VERONICA A. BRUCKMANN

Veronica A. Bruckmann, 73, of Easley, widow of John Cotter Bruckmann, Jr., died Tuesday, December 6, 2016.

Born in Amityville, NY, she was the daughter of the late Stephen Joseph and Theresa O’Brien McNulty.

She retired from NCR.

Surviving are sons, John Cotter Bruckmann III of Hudson, NC and William Walter Brucknann of Piedmont; five grandchildren.

A private funeral service will be held at Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

FRANK E. CARMAN

Frank E. Carman, 88, of Greenville, husband of Syble Canup Carman, died Monday, December 5, 2016.

Born in Pelzer, he was a son of the late Samuel Carman and Elizabeth Ragsdale Carman Ware.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a member of Woodside Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Diane Hamlin and Cindy Carman; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Sara Hudson; and a brother, Lee Carman.

Funeral service was held Friday, December 9 in the Northwest Chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home. Burial followed in Graceland Cemetery, West.

NANCY JANE YATES MERCK

Nancy Jane Yates Merck, of Mauldin, died Sunday, December 11, 2016 at her home.

Born in Liberty, she was daughter to the late John Joseph Yates and Ethel Sanders Yates.

She retired from the Greenville Hospital System and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are her husband Marshall Glenn Merck; three daughters, Lynn McCarter of Fountain Inn, Lisa Wamack of Evans, GA, and Jennifer Glover of Spartanburg; sisters, Kathryn Chastain of Piedmont and Johnnie Hunter of North Augusta; brothers, Stanley and Wallace Yates of Norris; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held December 13th at Fairview Presbyterian Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

HELEN B SMITH

Helen “Boots” Wood Baker Smith, 98, of Piedmont, widow of Lee. E. Smith, died Saturday, December 10, 2016 at McCall Hospice House.

Born in Greenville, she was daughter of the late Edwin Urias “Rice” and Ethel Mae Hitt Wood.

She retired from Belk Simpson Downtown. She was a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Sue E. Baker Williams of Piedmont and Nancy A. Baker Roberts of Elberton, GA; son, Harold E. “Bud” Baker of Greenville; sister, Rev. Patricia S. Wood of Greenville; two brothers, Harmon “Jick” D. Wood and Edwin “Mister” D. Wood, both of Greenville; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Boyd O’Dell “Duck” Baker.

Funeral service was held Thursday, December 13 atThomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Burial followed in Rocky Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

THE REV. HUFORD CHATMAN CASH

The Reverend Huford Chatman Cash, 94, of Pelzer, husband of Othelia R. Cash, died Saturday, December 10, 2016.

Born in Chesnee, he was the son of Tolley and Lettie Goode Cash of Cherokee County.

He was a Baptist minister pastoring seven churches in the area.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, JoAnn Taylor and Marjorie Taylor; one grandson; three great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mamie Lee Mills.

Funeral service was held Tuesday, Dec. 13 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home Northwest Chapel. Entombment followed in Greenville Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

GAIL EVINGTON

Gail Evington, 75, of Greenville, widow of Morris Evington, died Saturday, December 10, 2016.

Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of Grace Holcombe Smith and the late Ramsey D. Smith.

She retired from Stone Manufacturing and U.S. Foods. She was a member of Paris View Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to her mother, are daughters, Kristy Hunsinger of Piedmont, and Nikki Puckhaber of Anderson; and five grandchildren.

Graveside service will be held Thursday, December 15 at 1 p.m. at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

ROGER A. BERUBE

Roger A. Berube, 73, of Simpsonville, died Tuesday, December 13, 2016.

He was the son of the late Alphonse Berube and the late Cecile Fournier.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Berube; two sons, Michael Berube of Locust Grove, VA, and John Berube of Methuen, MA; daughter, Nicole Berube of Piedmont; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a sister, Loraine Cowles of Naples, FL.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

JAMES WILLARD BISHOP

James Willard Bishop, 94, of Pendleton, husband of the late Ethelfred Blackman Bishop, died Monday, December 12, 2016 at his home.

Born in Piedmont, he was the son of the late James Toy and Nannie Mackey Bishop. He was a Merchant Marine during World War II. He retired from Clemson University and was a member of Welcome Baptist Church.

Surviving are son, Joseph McCurry Bishop of Anderson; two daughters, Susan Frances Bishop of Decatur, GA, and Fredda Anne Bishop of Sandy Springs; sister, Robbie Herd of Simpsonville.

Funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Welcome Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday at Sullivan-King Mortuary. The family is at the residence.
