West Pelzer Police Chief Mike Clardy has resigned his position with the West Pelzer Police Department. Mayor Blake Sanders made the announcement in a news release last Thursday.
The release stated, “It is with sorrow that I announce that Chief Clardy has resigned effective April 27th. Chief Clardy, a veteran employee of 7 years with West Pelzer and many more in law enforcement brought valued determination, vision, and leadership to the department during a time of rebuilding. With this leadership, West Pelzer was ranked as the lowest crime in the state and 4th nationwide. We continue to support Mr. Clardy in his future endeavors and look forward to his involvement as a citizen in the surrounding communities.”
Sanders went on, “Effective immediately, Chris Brewer will transition as the new Chief of Police. Chief Brewer has been a dedicated Captain for many years and is well versed to step into this role. I have no hesitation in his abilities and look forward to seeing him serve West Pelzer for many years to come. We are blessed to have such great support staff throughout this transition. You as residents and businesses will see no change in service or coverage. If there are any questions, please feel free to reach out to me directly by email at bsanders@westpelzer.com.”
