The Williamston Police Department will join Anderson County for theĀ inĀ honoring fallen law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty each year at the Peace Officers Memorial Day ceremony.
This year’s ceremony will take place on May 9, at 6 PM. at the Anderson County Courthouse located at 100 S Main St, Anderson.
The Williamston Police Department will participate in the ceremony this year by placing the wreath and also participating in the procession leading up to the ceremony.
At the courthouse is a wall that bears the names of officers in Anderson County who lost their lives in the line of duty. The Williamston Police Department will join law enforcement officers across our county in expressing our condolences and will stand in unity with the families, fellow officers, and the communities these heroes served.
During National Police Week communities across the Nation will honor fallen heroes. However in Anderson County we need not look further than our own back yard to realize that we have heroes among us. The officers whose names appear on the memorial were defined by courage, duty, and honor and gave their lives keeping us safe.
“We welcome members of the community to participate with us in remembering these brave officers,” said Captain Kevin Marsee of the Williamton Police Department.
