JACKIE CHAPMAN, JIMMY CHILDS, JACK STEPHENS, DOUGLAS R. RHODES JR., DOUG CORDELL

JACKIE CHAPMAN

WILLIAMSTON – Jacqueline Roache “Jackie” Chapman, 78, wife of the late John Robert “Bob” Chapman, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2017.

Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Lillie Mae Galloway Roache. She was a retired nurse with the Greenville County Health Department and a member of Washington Baptist Church where she served in the choir and many other ministries.

She is survived by daughter, Lori Allison Chapman of Williamston; sons, Chris Chapman (Lori) of Williamston and Greg Chapman (Mary Jean) of Fountain Inn; brothers, Raymond Roache (Jean) and Charles Roache (Linda); sister, Bobbie Jean Kellett; brother-in-law, Joe Rogers; sister-in-law, Linda Roache; grandchildren, Lauren Chapman and Catherine Mattox (Jacob), both of Charleston, Morgan and Jordan Masters and Zachary and Erin Chapman, all of Williamston; best friends, Bill and Becky Huff and family.

She was predeceased by brother, Bonnard Roache; sister, Maxine Rogers.

Visitation was from 9:30 to 11:00 am Saturday, June 3, at Washington Baptist Church. The service followed at 11:00 am in the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Washington Baptist Church, 208 Washington Church Rd., Pelzer, SC 29669.

JIMMY CHILDS

Jimmy Ray Childs, 56, of Anderson, died Friday, June 2, 2017.

Born in Pelzer, he was the son of the late Claude Joe and Clara Mickie Garner Childs.  He was owner/operator of J and C Enterprise.

Survivors include girlfriend, Amy Smith of the home; sons, Clay Childs and Clint Childs, of Williamston; step-daughters, Alexis, Alyssa, Alana Smith; sister, Claudia Ingram of Williamston; and one grandson.

Funeral service was held Monday, June 5, in the Chapel of  Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.  Burial followed at the Pelzer Cemetery.

JACK STEPHENS

Jack Kenneth Stephens, 80, of Fountain Inn, widower of Gladys Allison Stephens, died June 1, 2017.

Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late Henry Joe and Dollie Sargent Stephens.  He was retired from Woven Electronics Corporation.

Survivors include daughters, Dolly Stephens Kissiah  of Fountain Inn and Rebecca J. Vickery of Powdersville; step-daughters, Teresa Collins  of Pelzer, Susan Grogan of Williamston, Connie Mitchell  of Piedmont; sister, Fannie Bell Rumsey of Anderson; 10 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

The funeral service was held Monday, June 5, in the Greenville Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with entombment following.

Please join the family of Douglas R. Rhodes, Jr., in the celebration of his life.

A memorial service will be held on June 10 at 11 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church in Pelzer.

Following the service, remains of Douglas, Lydia Fay and Hunter Douglas Rhodes will be buried in the church cemetery.

DOUG CORDELL

Douglas Eugene Cordell, 78, of Williamston, husband of Barbara K. Sams Cordell, died Monday, June 5, 2017.

Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late Floyd Eugene and Edna Rochester Cordell.  He was owner/operator of Cordell Custom Conversions.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Greg Cordell  of Greenville and Todd Eugene Cordell of Westminster; daughters, Christie Dove of Anderson and Sonya Cole of Greenville; step-children, Lonnie Carl Collins, Jr. of Simpsonville and Rickie Collins of Fork Shoals; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 10, at Grace Church, 9205 Hwy 81, Piedmont. A reception will follow at the church.
