The Mill Town Players will present Bye Bye Birdie July 14 through Aug. 6 at the Pelzer Auditorium.
Bye Bye Birdie is one of the most captivating musical shows of our time. Inspired by the phenomenon of Elvis Presley and his draft notice into the Army, the story follows singer Conrad Birdie after he has been drafted to the army. As a farewell, the rock and roll star is scheduled to sing Albert Peterson’s “One Last Kiss” and kiss a girl from Sweet Apple, Ohio, live on the Ed Sullivan Show.

However, Conrad’s hip-thrusting makes more than one man in town uncomfortable, many of whom attempt to stop the show from happening. Meanwhile, Rosie wonders if Alfred, for whom she does everything, will ever leave his mother’s shadow.
A satire crafted with the fondest affection, Bye Bye Birdie features such musical theater classics as What Did I Ever See in Him?, Put on a Happy Face, One Boy, A Lot of Livin’ to Do, Kids, Rosie, and Spanish Rose. Directed by Reed Halvorson, with musical direction by Tim St. Clair II and choreography by Kimberlee Ferreira, BYE BYE BIRDIE is sure to be a hit!
Tickets to Bye Bye Birdie are only $10, with discounts for seniors, military, and students, and can be purchased online at www.milltownplayers.org, by calling (864)947-8000, or at the door.
