The Williamston Police Department will sponsor a free training class on civilian response to active shooter events.
“With all of the Active shooter events happening across the world, it only makes sense to be prepared. Sign up and receive free training from the Williamston Police Department, an agency that is passionate about what it takes to keep you safe, said Williamston Police Captain Kevin Marsee.
“Law enforcement officers and agencies are frequently requested by schools, businesses, and community members for direction and presentations on what they should do if confronted with an active shooter event,” Marsee said. “The Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) course provides strategies, guidance and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event.”
The course is designed and built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend strategy developed by ALERRT in 2004,
Topics include the history and prevalence of active shooter events, the role of professional guardians, civilian response options, medical issues and drills.
This two-hour training is being offered to schools, colleges, businesses, hospitals and places of worship.
The Standard two hour course will be offered from 6 pm – 8:30 pm October 20.
