SWAT team responds – Big Creek Road

A SWAT team member prepares to get a man out of a house on Big Creek Road Wednesday night. The Anderson County sheriff’s office SWAT team responded to the home after deputies were dispatched to the residence for a call. The man was eventually taken into custody without incident. Cheddar firefighters and EMS stood by as a precaution while SWAT negotiated with the man.

According to reports, Anderson County Dispatch received a 911 hang up call in which the dispatcher thought they a female was crying in the background. The Dispatch Center received a second 911 call in which the caller said there was a “domestic situation,” on Big Creek Road. When deputies arrived, they learned the man inside the house was holding a woman against her will. Officers attempted to communicate and negotiate with the barricaded man and a person who knew the man was also on the phone trying to get him to come out of the house, officials said.
The man came out of the house just after 10:30 p.m. Wednesday and was taken into custody without incident.
A woman inside the house was held against her will and was hurt but her injuries were not life-threatening.
