Ashley Trantham won the Republican primary Tuesday for the State House District 28 seat that Representative Eric Bedingfield is leaving in January. In unofficial results, Trantham received 871 votes. Krystal Blume had 296 votes, Bill Welch received 191 and Jonathan Smith received 149 votes. Since no Democrats signed up to run for the seat, Trantham will be the only candidate on the ballot in the January 16 special election for the seat. House District 28 covers south Greenville County. Bedingfield announced earlier this year that he intends to resign the House seat in January to become the Director of Governmental affairs for Greenville Technical College.
