JERRY MICHAEL “ MIKE “ HENRICKSON

Jerry Michael “ Mike “ Henrickson, Jr., 62, of Pelzer, SC went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, January 29, 2018. Mike was the owner of M & D Upholstery for 39 Years. Left to cherish his precious memory are his loving wife, Cindy Sizemore Henrickson and their five children, daughter, Sonya Bane, daughter, Nissa Cooper, daughter and her husband, Autumn and Jordan Mardis, son and his wife,Tristan and Logan Henrickson, daughter and her husband, Talya and Marcus Starrett; 11 precious grandchildren, Carson, Megan, Harlee, Dylan, Karys, Hagan, Peightyn, Paizleigh, Kingstan, Jerryn, and Koen and 1 great grandchild, Colby; his mother and her husband, Janette and Paul Rendleman and 1 sister, Talitha Mills. Mike was born in Mooresville, North Carolina. He was also the son of the late Jerry Henrickson. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 3:00 P.M. at Bessie Road Baptist Church, 575 Bessie Road, Piedmont, SC with receiving of friends prior to the service1:30 P. M. – 3:00 P. M. The family will be at their home at 229 Johnson Road, Pelzer, South Carolina 29669. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agape Baptist Church, 214 Crossbridge Trail, Piedmont, South Carolina 29673. THOMAS RAY ‘TOMMY’ JOHNSON

WILLIAMSTON – Thomas Ray “Tommy” Johnson, 75, husband of Brenda Diane Irby Johnson of 212 Cherokee Rd. died Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at his residence.

Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late Thomas Aaron and Ruth Bawkum Johnson. He was a member of West Pelzer Baptist Church and a US Air Force Veteran.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are: son, Thomas Michael Johnson and wife Hope of Williamston; daughter, Deborah Lynn Pepper and husband Chris of Leander, TX; sister, Ann Fields and husband Ira of Belton; grandchildren, Shawn Tyler Garrett, Aaron Christian Pepper and wife Rebekah, Thomas Cole Johnson and wife Kelsey, and Addilyn Hope English.

Service was held 3pm Saturday at Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Zachery Shaw, Rev. Dan Simpler and Aaron Pepper officiating. Burial followed at Garden of Memories.

The family received friends prior to the service Saturday from 1pm until 2:45pm at Cox Funeral Home.

Flowers were optional or memorials may be made to West Pelzer Baptist Church.

The family will be at the residence.

JERRY L. THURSTON

Pelzer – Jerry L. Thurston, 69, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018.

Born in Pelzer, he was a son of the late Jessie Cleveland and Jeanette Weinsberg Thurston.  He was retired from J.P. Stevens Parker Plant and a Baptist.  Jerry was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the U.S. Army.  He served with the 101st Airborne’s Famed Tiger Force 1st/327 Infantry Division.

Survivors include daughter, Michelle Ashmore (David) of Simpsonville; special friend, Sissy Morgan of Piedmont; brothers, Johnny Thurston (Pam) of Piedmont and Greg Thurston (Becky) of Pelzer; grandchildren, Tabatha Robins, Johnlee Simmons and Jerri Ann Smith; and three great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Ann Simmons.

A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Pine Lawn Cemetery, Pelzer.

   The family members are at their respective homes.

BONNIE SAYLERS ALVERSON

PIEDMONT – Bonnie Saylers Alverson, 72, of 540 Osteen Hill Rd., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 23, 2018.

She was the daughter of the late Ike and Sadie Bell Saylers and is the last surviving member of the immediate Saylers family. She was also a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving are: daughter, Teresa Lynn Steadings of Piedmont; granddaughters, Diana and Tabitha Steadings both of Belton and Angela Steadings of Anderson; great grandchildren, Kaelin Rogers, Nyllah and Elisha Gilliland and Lexton Thomas; brother-in-law, Thomas Cooley; nephews, Michael and Ben Cooley, Wade Clark, Michael and Keith Saylers; significant other, Harold Van Buskirk of Simpsonville.

She was preceded in death by her brother, William Saylers and sisters, Sandra Cooley and Betty Ann Clark.

Per her request, Bonnie’s body was donated to USC Upstate for scientific research.

Memorial service will be held 1pm Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Piedmont with Rev. Dean King officiating.

Flowers may be sent to Oak Grove Baptist Church on February 3rd before 1pm.

The family will be at their respective homes.

DOROTHY WATT

PELZER—Dorothy “Dot” King Watt, wife of the late Bobby S. Watt, passed away Friday, January 26, 2018.

Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Eugene and Annie Lindley King. She was retired from Proctor and Gamble and was a member of the Pelzer Church of God.

She is survived by son, Timothy “Tim” Watt of the home; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by ten brothers and sisters.

Visitation was Monday, January 29, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary. The service was held Tuesday, January 30 at 11:00 a.m. in the mortuary chapel, followed by burial at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

MARY E. ROBERTS

Mary Ellen Brown Roberts, 85, of Williamston, died Friday, January 26, 2018 at Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Easley, she was a daughter of the late J.B. Brown and Lettie Weaver Brown. She was a member of Boulevard Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Amanda Watson of Easley, Debbie Orr of Anderson, and Teresa Every of Myrtle Beach; sisters, Selena Lockaby of Easley and Linda Massey of Greenwood; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Francis Harold Roberts.

Funeral service was held Sunday, January 28 in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home. Interment followed at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.

MARY JAMES PEPPLE

Mary James Pepple, 98, died January 27, 2018.

She was the daughter of Cromer and Elizabeth James of Piedmont.

She had three daughters, Brenda Curtis, Barbara Corell, and Beverly Bell; two grandchildren; a great-grandson; and one sister, Doris McClure.

She was a hairdresser.

She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Peple.

She was a member of Reedy Fork Baptist Church.

Funeral service was held Wednesday at Reedy Fork Baptist Church. Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

ELIZABETH JACKSON

Elizabeth Ann Butts Jackson, 73, of Williamston, wife of the late Truman DeWitt Jackson, Sr., died Tuesday, January 30, 2018.

Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Curtis Eugene and Emmie Crumpton Butts. She retired from Compton Trucking.

She is survived by son, Dee Jackson of Powdersville; daughters, Wendy Fritz of Belton and Kimberly Jackson of Williamston; brother, Bill Butts of Piedmont; sister, Thelma Stone of Simpsonville; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 pm Saturday, February 3, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. The service will follow at 2:00 pm in the mortuary chapel. Burial will be at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
