The former BB&T bank building at 1 Greenville Drive is being torn down to make way for a Dollar Tree store location. In April of 2017, BB&T announced that they were closing their branch office in Williamston which they did in August. In October it was announced that a Dollar Tree store location would be coming to the property at 1 Greenville Drive. This week the former bank building was torn down to make way for the Dollar Tree retail store. Plans call for replacing the landscaping along Greenville Drive to be more in keeping with the Town’s Community Master Plan. Though not required by code, the developer plans to include a bike rack as suggested in the Master Plan and Bike Plan suggested by the Town of Williamston.
