JACK ‘BUSTER’ BROCK JR.

Jack Lewis “Buster” Brock, Jr., 52, of Anderson, died Tuesday, February 6th, 2018 at Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Anderson, he was a son of Jack Brock Sr. of Williamston and Rachel Vaughn Brock of Anderson. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church and formerly worked for Charles Furniture Company.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by three sons, Justin Brock, Joseph Brock, and Jacob Bradley Brock, all of Anderson; one daughter, Ashley Makison of Williamston; one sister, Tracy Simpson of Anderson; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 9 at Southside Baptist Church in Anderson. Burial followed at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.

BETTY LONG

Betty Dickson Long, 92, of Clemson, wife of the late Jim T. Long, died Thursday.

Born in Piedmont, she was a teacher in the Oconee County school system and a member of Fort Hill Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her son, Jim T. Long Jr. M.D. of Franklin, NC; two granddaughters; and sister, Gail Rosenthal of Mauldin.

Funeral service was held Monday, Feb. 12 at Fort Hill Presbyterian Church in Clemson. Graveside service followed at Shiloh United Methodist Cemetery in Piedmont.

CAROLYN BARNES

Carolyn Cothran Barnes, 81, of Pelzer, wife of the late Charles E. Barnes, died Tuesday, February 6, 2018.

Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late James Alton and Florence Elsie Stewart Cothran. She was a homemaker and a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church.

She is survived by her sister, Betsy Latham of Iva.

A graveside service was held Monday, February 12, at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

LT. COL. RET. MIRON WALTER TOTH

Lt. Col. Ret. Miron Walter Toth, 77, of Piedmont, husband of Priscilla “Dean” Toth, and the late Ann Toth, died Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at his home.

Born in Chiminany, Czechoslovakia, the son of Mary Hric Toth of Michigan and the late Andrej Toth, he was employed with Covington, Patrick, Hagins, Stern & Lewis LLC.

He was a retired US Air Force Lt. Col. veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are a son, Rodney Brent Simmons of Pickens; daughter, Marsha Ann Kesterson of NC; sister, Mary Howie of MI; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 11 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road, Easley. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Anderson with military honors.

THERMAN TAYLOR

WILLIAMSTON—Therman Douglas “Papa” Taylor, 81, husband of Jean Rainey Taylor, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018

Born in Starr, he was a son of the late Bert R. and Sallie Mae Todd Taylor. He was retired from the Furman Plant and was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Douglas Taylor of Williamston, David Taylor of the home; daughters, Tammy Taylor (Janene Finneran) of Pendleton, Annette Winn (Ashley Fowler) of Anderson; brothers, Paul Taylor (Debbie) of Antreville, Haskell Taylor (Carolyn) of Pelzer; grandchildren, Kasey Touchton (Jason) of Texarkana, TX, Brooks Vaughter (Kim) of Starr, Connor Winn of Anderson, Travis Selman (Megan) of Easley, Corey Selman of Williamston, Todd and Tyler Taylor of the home; and eleven great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by brothers, Ray and David Taylor.

Visitation was Wednesday, February 14, from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary. The funeral followed at 2:00 in the mortuary chapel, with burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

SANDRA SPRUELL

Sandra Kay Guthrie Spruell, 72, of Fountain Inn, wife of the late Andrew Glenn Spruell, died on Saturday, February 10, 2018.

Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late William Hubert and Lillie Mae Cason Guthrie. She was retired from C & T Manufacturing and was a member of Fountain Inn First Baptist Church.

She is survived by daughter, Diane Spruell of Fountain Inn; brothers, Donnie Guthrie of Anderson, and Stanley Guthrie of Williamston.

Funeral service was Tuesday, February 13 in the chapel of Gray Mortuary. Burial followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

JEAN LOVETT

EASLEY, SC – Jean Elizabeth Golden Lovett, 84, passed away Friday, January 26, 2018 after a brief illness.

She was born June 28, 1933, in Pelzer, SC, a daughter of the late Luther Madison Golden and Lola Bell Johnson Golden. Before moving to Brookdale Retirement Community in Easley, she was a resident of Philadelphia, PA, Piedmont, and Simpsonville. She was a longtime member of Rehoboth Baptist Church and Freedom Fellowship Baptist Church.

She was predeceased by her husband of sixty years, Rufus Clarence Lovett, Jr.; three brothers; one sister.

She is survived by son Kenneth Lovett and grandson, Samuel Lovett-Perkins of Philadelphia, PA; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and Don Roy Rogers of Pelzer.

Visitation will be from 1:30 to 2:00 pm Saturday, February 17, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm in the mortuary chapel.

CLIFTON JORDAN

Clifton Furman Jordan, 87, of Belton, widower of Jewell Hawkins Jordan, died Friday, February 9, 2018.

Born in Anderson, he was the son of the late Robert and Janie Bryson Jordan.

He was retired from Blair Mill, frequent writer in the Belton Honea Path News-Chronicle. He was a member of Belton Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Surviving are two sons, Furman Jordan of Winter Haven, FL and Melvin Jordan of Williamston; two step-sons, Danny Wayne Lowe of Anderson and Charlie Lowe of Belton; ten grandchilderen; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Monday, Feb. 12 at Belton Pentecostal Holiness Church.

JIM BANKS

James “Jim” Leroy Banks, III, 63, of Greenville, husband of Rev. Beth Templeton, died Saturday, February 10, 2018.

Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Dr. James Leroy Banks, Jr. and Colleen Stokes Banks. He was a retired commercial photographer.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, James Leroy Banks, IV of Jackson, MS; step-sons, David S. Templeton, III, of Charleston, SC, and Matthew L. Templeton of Raleigh, NC; sisters, Rebecca Banks Peddicord of Pewaukee, WI, Kathryn A. Banks of Asheville, NC; and and five grandchildren.

MARTY CRAWFORD

Marty Keith Crawford, 70, died peacefully at home on Friday, February 9, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Pelzer, he was a son of the late James Clayton Crawford and Nellie Roberts Crawford.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Ann; son, Dr. Myles Crawford (Stephanie) of Franklin, TN; and the loves of his life, his three grandsons, Oscar, Julian, and Sebastian. Other survivors include a sister, Bonnie Klyce (Don); a brother, Edward Crawford (Robin); and numerous family and friends.

Marty served his country for 20 years as a member of the U.S. Army National Guard, and retired after 43 years from Canal Insurance Company. He was a member of Mt. Zion Christian Fellowship, was greatly loved by many and will be dearly missed.

A visitation was held Tuesday, February 13, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. There was  a graveside funeral service on Wednesday, February 14th at 1:00 p.m. at the M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery.

IRENE CAPPS

Irene Heaton Capps, 90, of Pelzer, widow of Harold Ray Capps, died Monday, February 12, 2018 at her home.

   Born in Piedmont, she was the daughter of the late Elbert and Lettie Collins Heaton.  She was retired from La France Industries and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Survivors include daughters, Jennifer Crawford  of Pelzer, Diane Cooley of Williamston, Wanda Comeaux of Seneca and Melanie Ford of Pelzer; special nieces, Maxie Freeman and Martha Owens; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.

A memorial service was held Wednesday, February 14, at Tabernacle Baptist Church.

JAMES ‘TOMMIE’ THOMAS HART

James “Tommie” Thomas Hart, Jr., of Williamston, died Saturday, February 10, 2018.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; two sons, Tommy, Jr. and Patrick; and sister, Robbie Lou Ellison.

He was employed with Duke Energy and was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church.

Funeral service was held February 14 at Westville Funerals, 6010 White Horse Road, Greenville.

PANSY FORD

PELZER — Pansy Gertrude Ford, 91, wife of John Hulan Ford, Sr., passed away Sunday, February 11, 2018.

Born in Easley, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Laura Davis Howard. She was a homemaker and a member of Zion Assembly Church of God.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Brenda Oliver of Ware Shoals and Johnny Ford (Sue) of Ware Place; grandchildren, Angela Wood, Todd Ford, Dee, Anthony, and Michael Oliver; sixteen great grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by daughter, Janice Darby, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 15, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary. The funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the mortuary chapel, with burial at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

DR. RAYMOND FARMER

Dr. Raymond Mayfield Farmer, 83, formerly of Anderson, died Sunday, Feb. 11 in Gainesville, GA.

He is survived by his wife, Betty of Gainesville, GA; sons, Dave Farmer of Simpsonville, Gary Farmer of Williamston, Keith Farmer of Peachtree City, GA, Chuck Farmer of Greenville, and Bill Farmer of Largo, FL; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Sherry Skipper of Columbia.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and had a private practice in Anderson.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Gainesville, GA.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, Feb. 24 at 2 p.m. in the chapel at Lanier Village Estates in Gainesville, GA.

JOHN ERNEST BRADLEY JR.

John Ernest Bradley, Jr., of Pickens, died February 12, 2018.

Born in Anderson, he was the son of John and Carol Bradley Sr. of Powdersville.

He was the widower of Floyce Brown Bradley.

He is survived by his current wife, Tonya Parsons Bradley.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Southern Bell.

Surviving in addition to his parents and wife are daughters, Sunshine Unterwagner of Brunswick, GA, and Melissa Bell of Lorton, VA; six grandchildren; and sisters, Laura Stinson, Tara LeCroy.

Celebration of life will be held Saturday, Feb. 17 at Robinson Funeral Home in Powdersville. Interment will follow at Greenville Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at noon at Robinson Funeral Home in Powdersville.

Lawrence “Larry” Leslie Mucci, 77, of Pelzer, husband of Carol Gerwig Mucci, died February 9, 2018.

He was born in New Britain, CT to Lawrence A. Mucci and Gladys Leslie Mucci.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Mauldin United Methodist Church. He was a pilot and flight instructor and established Aviation Consultants, Inc.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are two sons, Reggie Mucci, Ben Mucci; daughter, Leslie Mucci; four brothers, Don Mucci, Larry Mac Mucci, Richard Mucci, Jeff Mucci; and one granddaughter.

Memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Reedy Fork Baptist Church, 459 Reedy Fork Road, Greenville, SC 29605.

JOYCE BROWN

Joyce Virginia Eskew Brown, 75, of Pelzer, wife of Thomas Benjamin Brown, died Monday, February 12, 2018.

Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Furman Henry and Virginia “Ginny” Ruth Chapman Eskew. She was retired from Kendall Company.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters, Kim Ellison of Honea Path, Debbie Yeargin of Anderson, Lisa Glave of Pelzer; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, Feb. 15 at 10 a.m. at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery.

CODY TELLIER

Cody Ryan Tellier, 26, of Greer, husband of Sarah Benard Tellier, died Thursday, February 8, 2018.

Born in Winter Garden, FL, he was a son of Robert Tellier of Rogers City, MI and Laura Gregg of Pelzer.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by a daughter, Elliotte Grace Tellier; two brothers, Zack Gregg and Robbie Tellier; grandmothers Rita Tellier of MI, and Delores Ascherl of Pelzer.

Funeral service was held Friday, Feb. 16 at Airport Baptist Church. Burial followed at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
