Williamston Police Officers investigated the following incidents:
Feb. 21 – Dollar General, 526 W. Main St., Williamston reported a clerk received a counterfeit $5 bill. T. L. Eichelberger investigated.
Feb. 13 – Annie Ruth Chastain, 74, 4 W 2nd St., Williamston reported a screen door had been cut. R. Maxwell investigated.
Feb. 14 – Bryan Scott Dowell, 29, 23 Ridge Court, Williamston was arrested for simple assault after officers responded to the residence in reference to a domestic dispute. R. Maxwell investigated.
Feb. 14 – While checking for suspicious activity on Mahaffey Rd in Williamston, officers observed two males wearing all black, one with a backpack. During the investigation it was found that Benjamin Jay Cawthon, 38, 3 Goodrich St., Pelzer had an outstanding warrant with Anderson County. He was detained and transferred to Anderson County. K. Feb. 15 – Officers investigated an assault incident at 211 Williamston Ct. in which a 37 year old Williamston woman reported being punched in the mouth. The incident remains under investigation. K. Anthony, C. C Brown investigated.
Feb. 15 – Tyler Charles Wooten, 20, 704 Lewis Dr., Belton was arrested for simple possession of marijuana, drug equipment violations, failure to stop for a blue light and speeding after a grey SUV was observed on Greenville Drive with one missing headlight. According to reports, the vehicle appeared to be going 45 mph in a 35 mph zone. The vehicle sped up in an evasive manner and maintained a high rate of speed on S. Hamilton St. The vehicle stopped in the middle of the lane on Big Creek Road. A cigarette pack dropped by the suspect had marijuana in it. Rolling papers and a black pipe with burnt residue was found in the vehicle. Wooten was placed under arrest and issued a UTT. He was then transported to ACDC without incident. K. Feb. 16 – Cara Elizabeth Sanzari, 29, 110 Bigby St,. Williamston, was arrested for simple possession of marijuana and speeding after officers initiated a traffic stop at N. Hamilton and Major Street. B. K. Creel investigated.
Feb. 19 – Anthony Daquan Dean, 24, 18 Brown St., Williamston was arrested for failure to accompany officers and outstanding warrant with Williamston Police Department after being observed sitting on a four wheeler at 18 Brown St., According to reports, the patrolling officer had prior knowledge that Mr. Dean had an outstanding warrant for driving under suspension. While trying to cuff Dean, he resisted and took off. The officer caught up when Dean tripped and fell and continued to resist. Sgt. Eddelman arrived and a second pair of handcuffs was used to get both hands cuffed. He was transported to ACDC. K. Anthony investigated.
Feb. 20 – Jason Junior Webb, 39, 213 W. Union Dr., #B, Belton was arrested for simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after officers were dispatched to OReilly’s Auto Parts, 403 E. Main St. in reference to a white male acting strangely and throwing a wagon at a privacy fence behind the business. The subject was located attempting to flee on a black and red moped held together with multiple electrical wires and zip ties loaded down with a lot of items. A needle and bag with substance field tested positive as marijuana was found on Webb. While being transported to WPD, he stated to the officer he had used meth earlier and became sick and vomited inside the patrol vehicle. After completing paperwork, Webb was transported to ACDC without further incident. B. K. Creel investigated.
