During their meeting Tuesday night, the Anderson School District One Board of Trustees unanimously approved Assistant Superintendent Robbie Binnicker as their new superintendent. Binnicker will take over the position effective July 1 and will fill the position being vacated by the current Superintendent, David Havird, who is retiring at the end of the school year.

Binnicker stated, “I am honored and humbled by the confidence the Anderson One Board has placed in me. I am excited to work with excellent district and school administrators, faculty, staff, students, parents and community members to continue the tradition of excellence established in Anderson School District One.”

Board Chair Nancy Upton said, “In mid-December, David Havird announced his intent to retire as Superintendent of Anderson One at the conclusion of the 2017-18 school year. The Board and District employees will miss Mr. Havird’s leadership, but after 44 years of service to public education he deserves to spend more time with his family and to pursue personal hobbies and interests. Importantly, Mr. Havird has worked tirelessly to keep the focus on student achievement, graduation rate, building an outstanding faculty and staff and has provided numerous learning opportunities for students to be successful.”

Upton added, “The Board chose rather than to conduct a national/regional/state search for a new superintendent to look internally for an administrator who not only knew the communities served by Anderson One, but was a proven and experienced leader. The Board realized that Anderson One had a highly regarded administrator in our Assistant Superintendent for Administration, Robbie Binnicker.”

Upton said, “He is currently recognized statewide for his leadership in personnel and administration, he understands fully the expectations of our students, parents, and employees, and has played a key role for the past 28 years in the progress that our school system has made. Mr. Binnicker has served the district previously as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal, and director of secondary education prior to his serving as the current assistant superintendent for administration.
The Anderson One board is pleased to announce Mr. Robbie Binnicker as the next Superintendent for Anderson One. He is the right person to serve as Superintendent and we believe this will be a seamless transition. We hope and trust the staff and community will give full support to him.”
David Havird, current Superintendent, said “Mr. Binnicker is an excellent choice to become the next Superintendent for Anderson One. He has served in many roles that has provided an array of experience working with personnel, student services, special education, finance, transportation, and nutrition services. Quite simply, he is the ideal candidate as he is fully versed in all areas of district operations and will be able to keep the district’s priority on excellence and prepare students for the future.
Mr. Binnicker and I will continue to work closely together between now and the end of June to ensure a smooth transition. Please join me in congratulating Mr. Robbie Binnicker. The Board has made a wonderful decision!”
