TOM MILLWOOD

Thomas Laverne “Tom” Millwood, 50, of Pelzer, husband of Tisha Dawn Millwood, died Monday, February 19, 2018.

Born in Spartanburg, he was a son of John Thomas Millwood of Rutherfordton, NC and of the late Mary Rochester Millwood.

He was formerly employed with A World of Difference Carpet Cleaning in Anderson.

In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by step-mother, Mary Hudgins Millwood; sisters, Deana Millwood McDonald, Lori Millwood Hardy; brother, Jason Travis Millwood; step-brother, Brian Condrey; and step-sister, Shonda Bright.

Funeral service was held Saturday, February 24 in the chapel of Ramsey Creek Preserve in Westminster.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC 29615.

MILDRED STEPHENS

Mildred Marie Allison Hayes Stephens, 69, of Piedmont, wife of J.D. Stephens, died Wednesday, February 21, 2018 .

Born in Piedmont, she was the daughter of the late Noah and Jeanette Spence Allison. She was a member of Piedmont Church of God of Prophecy.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, Baxter Hayes of Duncan and Brian Hayes of Marietta, Michael Stephens of Anderson; daughter, Tammy Stephens of Six Mile; brothers, Joe Allison of Piedmont and Budd Allison of Easley; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Saturday, February 24 in the Chapel of Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Burial followed at Memory Gardens of Clemson.

EDDIE STONE

David Edward “Eddie” Stone, 59, of Belton, husband of Dana Lois Hogg Stone, died Friday, February 23, 2018.

Born in Anderson, he was a son of the late Tom Bermond and Annie Mae Poore Stone. He formerly worked for Milliken.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, David Stone of Williamston; daughters, Joy Cox of OK, Jill Keeler of Belton, and Chanda Bell of Pelzer; sister, Jean Gleaton of Williamston; brother, Mike Stone of Williamston; grandson, Braylen Pruitt of the home; and nine grandchildren.

Graveside service was held Monday, February 26, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

CARLEEN SISK

Carleen Karsten Sisk, 72, of Pelzer, wife of Thomas Lee Sisk, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2018.

Born in Belton, she was a daughter of the late Carl Karsten and the late Nettie Grace Cox Preib.  She was retired from ISOLA, in Pendleton, and a member of Revive Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters; Tammy K. Cothran Bowling of Belton, Paula Lynn Cothran LeCroy of Williamston, Tammy Jean Sisk Gillespie of Anderson; son, Tracy Lee Sisk of Williamston; sister, Elaine P. Watkins of Pelzer; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Tuesday, February 27, in the chapel of Gray Mortuary. Burial followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

MARY CAPE

Mary Sanders Cape, 95, of Easley, died February 23, 2018.

Born in Hartwell, GA, she was the daughter of the late Alvin and Myrtle Alewine Sanders. She was employed in textiles.

Surviving are three daughters, Sandra Oliver of Pelzer, Bobbie Watkins and Linda Dickard, both of Easley; siblings, Ruth Bryant of Powdersville, Inez Eaves and Effie Sanders, both of Hartwell, GA, Sarah Brasewell of Powdersville, Thomas Sanders of Easley, Alvin M. Sanders, Jr., of Piedmont, Doris Reynolds of Pickens, and Claude Sanders of Slidell, LA; ten grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Sunday, Feb. 25 in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home, Powdersville Road. Burial follow in Robinson Memorial Gardens.

CAROL VASS

Carol Sue Sayre Vass, 77, of Piedmont, wife of Benjamin Vass, died February 23, 2018.

Daughter of the late Charles Lee Sayre and Hazel Viola Green Sayre Tolliver, she was the owner and operator of Style Setters Salon.

She is survived by sons, Michael and Robert Vass; and one granddaughter.

No services are planned at this time.

CLAUDE “BUD” HUFF

Claude “Bud” Andrew Huff, 74, of Ware Shoals, husband of Marilee Mathiesen Huff, died Friday, February 23, 2018.

Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late John D. and Victoria Jordan Huff.

He was retired from Vanity Fair Corp. and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

In addition to his wife, he is surivived by son, Andy Huff of Greenville; daughter, Robyn Huff of Simpsonville; siblings, Jerry McCue of Williamston, Hope Crider and Billy Huff, both of Piedmont.

Funeral service was held Monday, February 26 at Augusta Road Methodist Church. Burial followed at Greenville Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, February 27.

DORIS OWENS

Doris Patterson Owens, 93, of Piedmont, wife of the late Raymond Burgess Owens, died Sunday, February 25, 2018.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Howard C. and Flora Lannette Campbell Patterson. She worked for J.P. Stevens and retired from E.C. Industries.

She is survived by son, Tony E. Owens of Piedmont; seven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was the last member of her immediate family.

A graveside service will be held Friday, March 2, at 11:00 a.m. at Shiloh United Methodist Church, with visitation to follow.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Shiloh United Methodist Church, Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 159, Piedmont, SC 29673.

DAVID GUTHRIE

WILLIAMSTON – David Lee Guthrie, one-year-old son of William Christopher Guthrie and Shianne Gosnell Palmer, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2018.

In addition to his parents of Williamston, he is survived by siblings, Brooklyn Guthrie, Lalaina Jean Palmer and Connor Guthrie, all of Williamston; step-sister, Angel Palmer; step-father, Michael Palmer; grandmothers, Jennifer  Gosnell and Elizabeth Guthrie, both of Williamston, Robin Reed of Hendersonville, NC; grandfather, Damian Bryant of Anderson; great-grandmothers, Ruby Amaker of Reevesville and Jean Gosnell of Pelzer; aunt, Tiffany Guthrie of Hendersonville, NC; uncles, Tre’Ante Colbert, Jakari Colbert and Raderick Gosnell, all of Williamston.

He was predeceased by grandfather, William Dale Guthrie.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 3 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Big Creek Baptist Church. The funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.

ANNE TURPEN

Anne Lee Roach Turpen, 97, of Williamston, wife of the late David “Turp” Turpen, died Monday, February 26, 2018 at National Healthcare of Anderson.

Born in Oconee County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Roach and Leatha McCall Roach.

She was owner and operator of Nanny’s Nursery and was a member of High Praises Church of God.

She is survived by daughters, Barbara Higgins of Williamston, Dixie McClain of Anderson; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Wednesday in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home. Entombment followed at Forest Lawn Mausoleum.
