Pig in the Park announces barbecue cook off winners

The annual Pig in the Park Barbecue Festival and Cook off was held Friday and Saturday in Williamston’s Mineral Spring Park. The event is sponsored by the Williamston Masonic Lodge and The Town of Williamston.
In additions to competitive cooking, there was plenty of barbecue available for people to enjoy. A trackless train and inflatables kept children entertained.
The Larry Gillis Band performed bluegrass on Friday night and The Jake Bartley Band performed on Saturday. A number of people brought chairs and listened to the bands.
SC Barbecue Association judges included Marshal Williams Holiday, judges Don Adkins. Marsha Adkins and Tony Lindsey
Winners in the Pork Butts category included: First – The Saucy Pig / James Davila (pictured above); Second – Adventures in Smoke/Jason Does; Third – Firetower BBQ LLC / Jay Thom; Fourth – High on the Hog BBQ / Matt Talbot; Fifth – Swig-n-Pig/ Andrew Massey.
Winners in the Pork Ribs category included: First – Dozed and B’Qued/ Jared Rikard; Second – Firetower BBQ LLC /Jay Thom. Taster’s choice prize went to Swig-n-Pig / Andrew Massey.
“Thanks to all the cook teams for making this event successful,” said SC Barbecue Marshal Williams Holiday. “The Williamston community benefits greatly with your help.”
Event co-organizer W. L. Cantrell thanked the competitors and everyone who attended the event.
