Pelzer man arrested in O’Reilly Auto Parts armed robbery

Quick response by local authorities resulted in an arrest being made within about an hour of an armed robbery that took place in Williamston Monday afternoon.

Kevin Patrick Bryant, 41, of 223 Looper Road in Pelzer is charged with armed robbery and faces other charges stemming a pursuit in Belton.

According to Captain Kevin Marsee of the Williamston Police Department,  at approximately 4:40 p.m., the Williamston Police received a call of an armed robbery at O’Reilly Auto Parts located at 402 East Main Street. Officers received a description of the suspect from the store clerk which was quickly transmitted to all local law enforcement agencies and Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect was seen entering a gray Ford Taurus and a partial tag number was observed. Williamston officers, with the assistance of West Pelzer police department canvassed the area looking for the suspect vehicle. he vehicle was seen traveling East on Main St and on Hamilton Street as it left the area.

In response, the Belton Police Department set up at the Belton city limits on Hwy. 20 and a Belton police officer observed a vehicle matching the description entering their jurisdiction. He attempted to stop the vehicle, however the vehicle failed to stop and the driver fled on foot. He was quickly apprehended near the ballfield area. Within the vehicle were items in plain view that were evidence of the robbery.
The suspect was identified as Kevin Patrick Bryant, 41, W/M, of 223 Looper Road in Pelzer. He is charged with the armed robbery in the Williamston jurisdiction and faces other charges stemming from the pursuit in Belton. Anderson County Sheriff’s Deputies also responded.
