Williamston Town Council held a special called meeting Monday morning to address two issues.
First on the agenda was second reading on an ordinance to sell property owned by the town on McDonald Avenue .
According to Mayor Mack Durham, the property, which includes a house, was sold at a tax sale and came back to the town. Durham said proceeds from selling the property will go into the general fund to be used for nuisance abatement. The purchaser plans to renovate and sell it as a “flip” house, he said.
Council unanimously approved with a 4-0 vote selling the property. Councilman Chris Alexander was not present.
Council also approved renovation bids for upgrades at the Armory (former Artory) building. The town is leasing the building for a 24-hour workout facility and the lease calls for installing heating and air and some electrical work.
Air 1 was selected for the project at a price of $57,437.Council approves selling tax property, upgrades at armory
