EDITH SMITH

LIBERTY – Mary Edith Williams Smith, 103, widow of George Robert Smith, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2018.

Born in Pendleton, she was the daughter of the late Edward Franklin and Mary Cleo Reames Williams.  She was retired from Excelsior Mill in Clemson and a member of Guthrie Grove Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith.

Survivors include son, Dean Smith of Liberty; grandsons, Bobby and Michael Smith; three great-granddaughters; three great-grandsons; and one great-great grandson.

She was predeceased by a brother, Earl Williams.

A graveside service was held Saturday, July 28, at 11:00 a.m. at Guthrie Grove Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith cemetery.

FAYE VINSON

Juanita Fay Burgess Vinson, 94, of Williamston, wife of the late Dorice Walter Vinson, died Thursday, July 26, 2018.

Born in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Floy and Zoa Mae McAlister Burgess. She retired from Cushman Mill and was a member of Whitefield Baptist Church.

She is survived by son, Paul Vinson of Williamston; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Saturday, July 28, in the chapel at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

ANNIE LONG

Beulah Anne Browning Long, 84, of Williamston, died Sunday, July 22, 2018.

Born in Williamston, she was married to Melvin Clarence Long.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Clemson.

She is survived by her daughters, Amy Long Chappell and Cindy Long Ritchie; brother, Wade Browning; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held Saturday, July 28 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

FAY BURGESS

Juanita Fay Burgess Vinson, 94, of Williamston, wife of the late Dorice Walter Vinson, died Thursday, July 26, 2018.

Born in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Floy and Zoa Mae McAlister Burgess.

RUTH KING

Ruth Spahr King, 84, of Williamston,  died Friday, July 27, 2018.

Born in Cucumber, WV, she was a daughter of the late William Robert and Cynthia Clara Wilson King. She was a legal secretary and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

She is survived by sons, Rev. Joe Cadden and Raymond Cadden, both of Williamston; four sisters; one brother; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Tuesday, July 31, at Calvary Baptist Church.

JANE CORDELL MAYSON

Jane Cordell Mayson, 72, of Easley, wife of Dale Mayson, died Monday, July 30, 2018.

Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late James and Hilda Cordell.

She was a member of Easley First United Methodist Church.

She retired from Pickens County School District.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sister, Dale Bagwell of Powdersville; and brother, Tommy Cordell of Easley.

Funeral service was held Wednesday, August 1 at the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home – Powdersville Road. Burial followed in Robinson Memorial Gardens.

DOUG WEST

PELZER – Douglas Willard “Doug” West, 73, husband of Brenda Cureton West, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2018.

Born in Pelzer, he was the son of the late James Frank and Ollie Cordelia Davis West. A U.S. Army veteran, he retired from Owens-Illinois.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Brad West (Terri) of Belton; sisters, Grace Geneva Roberts of Pelzer, Frankie Lou West Andrews (Sam) of West Pelzer; brother, Mike West (Marian Creamer) of Anderson; grandchildren, Cruz West (Dee), Kerribeth West, Rachel West, and “Olivia West” having been raised in the home; and great-grandchildren, Kylee and Jaxon West.

He was predeceased by daughter, Dianna West; brothers, Johnny and Charles West; sister, JoAn Babb; and granddaughter, Jewel West.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 2, from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. at Gray Mortuary, followed by the service at 1:30 in the mortuary chapel. Burial will be held at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fisher House, 1 Freedom Way, Augusta, GA 30904.

The family is at the home of Brad and Terri West.
