Public hearing set for zoning ordinance change

Williamston Town Council tabled second reading on changes to the town’s zoning ordinances and approved funding for a Martin Luther King Jr. breakfast in January.
The ordinance currently has a 25 feet setback for large lots identified as R1; R2 is 15 feet and R3 is 15 feet.
In the new ordinance, minimum building setbacks are Front 25’; Side 5’; Rear changes from 25’ to 15’.The issue was discussed during a work session Tuesday.
A public hearing will be held at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Williamston Municipal Center. The Town Council will consider second reading of this proposed ordinance that same night at its regularly scheduled meeting. Copies of the proposed ordinance are available at the Williamston Municipal Center. The public hearing will be open to the public.
Council also approved funding up to $5000 for the annual Martin Luther King Jr., breakfast event planned in January.
